I wish I could hit like more times than once on this video! This has always been one of my favorite songs, the way their two voices blend together has always just been so amazing to me (not to mention Pavarotti brings tears to my eyes nearly everytime.) Thank you so much for reacting to this one!

This was Pavarotti & Friends, a charity event Maestro Pavarotti and his wife used to organize every year in Modena, his hometown, calling the most popular and influential singers and musicians of that time to duet with him as a way to collect money each year for a valuable cause... some people live a good life and try to be also good people that's a lesson unfortunately not common to many others in stardom...anyway... a little fun story about this song... "Miserere" is a Zucchero Fornaciari's song that he composed with Maestro Pavarotti in mind, the two being good friends, he recorded a demo and sent it to him asking for his confirmation to take part in the project.... Pavarotti listened to the demo and told Zucchero "you don't need me you already have the perfect tenor" referring to the singer in the demo.... Pavarotti then recorded the studio version of Zucchero's album but the guy in the demo performed in Zucchero's tour... it was 1992 and the young tenor, completely unknown at the time, was Andrea Bocelli 😊

Great video. Bono is my favorite singer. But why I watched this is because of Pavarotti. Pavarotti was a god vocally. He is missed. U2 is how I learned about Pavarotti. Glad I did.

I found it interesting to see the different ways they perform. Bono is more animated and interactive . Pavarotti is stiff, but his emotions are palpable.

Wow! Pavarotti was also my first exposure to opera and 2nd only to Sinatra for me and my mother! Great to see that he still knocks it outta the park! I was young in the 80s so Bono is a given!! Love your style as a teacher/reactor!! Really productive and informative as opposed to a right and wrong analysis!! Here's hoping we see Dimash do Nessun Dorma soon!! More EXO please!😀❤

Hi Dr. Reynolds! As always, your reactions are like a moment for learning something. Thanks for that. Some days ago I suggested two videos of Dimash and now I'd like to suggest another singer. His name is Taemin. He's from South Korea but, the reason I'm suggesting him it's because he, as a solo artist, he tries to make a self-critic of the world of kpop, from which he emerged and is still a part of (he is a member of a very famous Kpop group called Shinee), but in his solo work he uses several verbal and nonverbal languages (Semiotic Modes) to break with some established paradigms in Korean society. It is a very questioning work. A good example of this is from MV "Want" . in this video, he is questioning what is the role of an artist in relation to his audience. I recommend you watch the video with the subtitles because the lyrics are strongly connected with the images on the MV. I hope you enjoy this suggestion. Greetings from Brazil! ; )

I like your Opera Sundays....the minute I started watching, I thought of Dimash, and his neo-classical approach to music...I actually liked this performance..I thought each brought their own seasoning to the soup..and made it so much more "flavorable"..(KZbin says this word does not exist..red lined it...but I like it)

i love that concert but my favourite part of this video was your story and your passion in general, esp the part where you ask people to treat these artists as people. i'm always banging on about this. idk why they're fair game and have to pay such a high price bc they're in the public eye. i just don't. they're human and have feelings like everyone else and it's perfectly possible to love and respect and admire them without violating their privacy and personhood at the same time. and if you hate them, keep it to yourself. how would you feel if people who don't like your work will come into your private sphere to abuse you too. wtf seriously. i tweeted this short thread one day i felt particularly upset about it. the sense of intimacy i get interacting w/an artist's (invariably personal) work is what makes me feel like i'm also violating their privacy i wish societies had a healthier relationship w/artists instead of exploiting this exposed vulnerability, marginalizing them, idolizing them denying them the physical/mental/financial safety & security that allows them to pursue the full life they deserve & fulfil ours in return.
