Jessie J is phenomenal. She does get a lot of criticism for various things. I was introduced to her when she won the singing contest in China. Those performances were stellar. I think I liked her performance of I Have Nothing on that show better.
@anitapaulus9372 жыл бұрын
I agree that she is vastly underrated. I always liked her, but watching her on The Singer in China, I saw another side to her that I fell in love with. She did this song in a very formal setting and just killed it! It’s well worth watching all of her performances on that show.

the best I heard from Jessie so far. Whitney used to sing live always a new interpretation of her songs - different tempos and different breaks, so does Jessie here and that shows her class! I had tears in my eyes listening to that song again when I watched her video. really welly done Jessie!

Jesse is one of a kind. Endless amounts of riffs and range at her disposal she can literally play around with any song and get away with it 😂

I saw her in convert once. She did a set where she sang Acapella, but lowered the microphone, set the mic back on the mic stand and she still was able to fill the auditorium with her voice. It was so beautiful.

I love the hair! Jessie J is underrated considering her powerhouse voice. The first time I noticed her was a duet she did with Vince Kidd on The Voice UK. She was amazing and she was probably even downplaying it a bit since it was a duet, but man oh man it's fantastic and I recommend it to anyone interested in Jessie J.

Hi Bethany, first of all, don't fret about your hair because it looks cute and you look beautiful! 😁 I discovered this live performance a few months and I was blown away (I've watched it probably 30-40 times!). I've thought Jessie J is a great singer since I first saw a video of her singing with a boombox in a NYC subway station a few years back, but the control, tone, power, phrasing and emotion of her vocals in this intimate performance in a small LA venue (along with her live performances from the 2018 season of the Chinese show The Singer) have convinced me that she is one of the best (or the best) current female singers on the planet. Plus, she also seems like a humble, funny and really nice person.
@RockDocNeal2 жыл бұрын
On a side note, have you ever heard anything from the female-fronted metal bands Jinjer or Spiritbox? I've never been into scream/growl harsh vocals, or metal music for that matter, but I discovered those two bands 3-4 months ago and I've become slightly obsessed due to their great songwriting and musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana from Jinjer and Courtney from Spiritbox, with both of them having the ability to instantly transition from beautiful clean vocals to powerful scream/growl harsh vocals. If you're interested, I'd recommend either Pisces (live in the studio) or Perennial (live at the 2019 Wacken music festival) from Jinjer and either Circle with Me (official video or one take vocal performance) or Blessed Be from Spiritbox (Spiritbox also has a song Constance which has no harsh vocals and is a tear jerker).

A year late to the party 🥳🎉🎊 and HAPPY EASTER 2024!! Only know the one song "Price Tag" and WOW she is a Master Class singer for sure. Seen some comments as why she isn't bigger. Like any song contest it's about; Song choice, backed by a great band and the magic of Timing. If she had arrived in 1978 let's say,,,, she would have been a Iconic presence!! But she has FAME with no need for shame! Do need to hear more!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

I love Jessie J. She is so emotive and gifted. I don't understand her relative 'unknownness' either. I love, love love this acoustical version! Wonderful reaction. You might also love to react to Sohyang's version of this same song , too, (her in a blue dress) which is far more a larger production in a large venue, but to me, the best version of the song (including the masterful Whitney's versions live), and one of the best live performances by anyone ever, in my humble opinion! Thanks again for your reaction!

If you ever check out KZ Tandingan's performance of "Rolling In The Deep" on Singer 2018, which won that episode, see the short heart-warming video shot the same day - "KZ Tandingan meets Jessie J". Thanks for the interview. Also there is the time that a young Morissette got to interview Jessie J on TV, and she mentioned that she had sung one of Jessie J's songs in a competition. After asking Morissette to sing for her, she had her join her onstage that night. (It's on Y.Tube)

I know it's a 1-year old video, but... This video highlights what I cannot understand about appreciating voices so incredibly well! And that's how I feel about it: no matter how good Jessie's technique is, her voice is so much "worse" in comparison Whitney's that I wish she never tried to sing this particular song. It's just not as beautiful, not even remotely. I feel the same way about many other videos on this channel: I can't just abstractly appreciate the technique, I either find the voice beautiful or I don't, no matter how well a singer sings. To be fair, I can appreciate very unusual and rare voice techniques, like Jonathan Davis' insane mutterings, but even in that case I still find his voice unpleasant in general whenever he's singing. And funny enough I love metal, but I listen to background music a lot more than to the actual voices. The background music I can appreciate, as well as the overall melody and the voice's intensity and emotion. But I actually wish I could appreciate the singing itself, because even when I appreciate the voice's intensity or emotion I still find myself wishing that the voice itself was more beautiful and more pleasant to listen to. Another case in point: Evanescence's Amy Lee has such an ordinary voice, I can't count how many such voices I've heard during my time at a music school. Even on youtube there are at-home-singers with exactly the same voice (and it's funny every time they cover her songs, because they sound just like Amy Lee, so what's the point of the cover?). Her music is good but I keep wishing that her voice was at least a little unique. Sorry that I sound negative, I certainly don't mean to insult any artist, I'm just confused. I wish I could enjoy hearing people sing, no matter what their voice is like. Apparently that's possible, at least this channel is all about it. And I had no idea that it's possible before I found this channel. EDIT: My voice is very ordinary and boring btw, so this message is by no means arrogant. I haven't even sung since school.

Hello Bethany. I like Jessie J's songs. Or to be more precise, I like some of her songs a lot. Her vocal ability is very nice. Now as Finnish man, I obviously am a huge Nightwish fan, also Battle Beast is amazing. You should check them out. Another Finnish band with female lead. I hope you read this and find a spot to do reaction to Battle beast. Eden and Eye of the Storm are good songs to react to. Master of illusionshows of her very high belts well. Now you should do minimum 2 reactions because their songs are little different and show different talents that Noora has. Thank you for this reaction. I only just found you after you released your 1st NW reaction. So hope to see you react to more symphonic metal bands. Like Within Temptation, she(lead singer) has a voice of an angel. Also Epica that has female lead also. All good band's. And every lead singer is Dutch. It's so weird. What water those ladies drink over there. Lmao P.S your hair is short for sure, but like you said it grows back. And y9u are a beautiful woman, short hair won't change that.

Believe it or not this vocally actually isn't her best singing to date! In fact the performance in this venue and other recent ones puzzled me as she wasn't connected to the songs like she usually does..Her voice isn't in a good state too...There's a melancholy throughout and not one song was seriously performed without the interruption of quips here and there. She also repeated a lot of runs and "basic" ones which is odd. What happens usually is special runs that go according to her every emotion on the fly and each performance is different. There were other odd things too. Overall it's like she wanted to connect with people and needed company, there's a lot more interaction and jokes with the audience but her mind in that state that connected fully to the songs. I commented something like this on another video and had people agree. I know I sound like a crazy fan but I have seen a lot of her videos and these are just different and had me worried. She had a recent intimate interview that released which made me understand more and reaffirmed what I saw in her recent performances. She had an accident that affected her voice among other things and she's healing her mind and body. If you are interested to do more reactions of her, you can't go wrong with her performances on Chinas's singer. It's less raw and wild then her own shows where you get crazy, expressive runs and riffs and change-ups, it's however more refined and precise but with a sprinkle of her wild abilities at the right places to put her performance above the others in the "competition". Those more accurately reflect her capabilities I would say, though her other concerts, shows, her videos she made in her room are more epic in other ways.

She got pigeonholed as pop when she started out & despite leaving her record label because of that hasn't really found her niche since. Such a shame, because if she'd been marketed like Adele & done similar style songs ( she's written a few albums of her own) she'd be stratospheric by now. She seemed to be unsure of her style & it's a bit of everything .
