The narrator is Prof. Richard Dawkins one of the world's leading evolutionary scientists. They've used passages from his book The Greatest Show on Earth and he narrated it for the song on the album. He also walked out on to the stage at Wembley and spoke it in person. The band (especially Tuomas who wanted to be a biological scientist before he became a musical genius) were star struck with having him agree to come on stage with them to narrate in person. And he was blown away (and terrified) because he's done lectures etc but never to 12500 screaming fans at a Rock concert. So glad you watched it to the end, loads of reactors miss the pay off of the climax with them all thanking the crowd and hugging.

The very special thing about Nightwish is that every band member is a genius in his/her field but they work together perfectly and step back as a person behind the music. They played Black Sabbath covers a couple of weeks ago on a live stream from Kuopio Finland, their home town, for 30 minutes, two nights in a row. Both streams available now on YT. Check them out. Same set list on both nights. In the later one Marko forgets the lyrics, (War Pigs was the song i believe, the last song), and reacts to that in Finnish: "Perkele!" In Buenos Aires 2018, Kingslayer was the song I think, his reaction in a similar situation was: "Fuck me!" That's Marko! LOL

Dear Mike, this is why the Nightwish Army loves Nightwish. The ability to overwhelm guys like you - well, trust me, we have all been there, and still are at every concert and new record. This is Nightwish in a nutshell - and - as you said - using the technology to underline the messages in their songs. But having said that, these 6 are unique. Tuomas are the modern Beethoven, Floor, Marco and Troy are completely insanely voice nerds, and Kai is a technical master on the drums - and Empphu's guitar handling are superb. And look at their chemistry - as Floor puts it: They are brothers in arms. They take the lead on shifts appreciating each other - the are the masters of live concerts, giving people experiences in more than just the ears. This is Nightwish. Great reaction from you - and you are by far, not the oldest. There are fans from 10 to 90, and a large portion of these are between 40 to 70.

The only criticism I have is that you didn’t give the drummer or the amazing keyboard member any recognition that they so well deserved. I understand this is a overwhelming concert and their is a lot to take I in. My suggestion to you is to watch this a few more times so you can see and hear all the little nuances that each member contributes to the overall sound and visuals which makes this a MASTERPIECE...good reaction for first time listing to this amazing band...Judy D from NY State

Dear Mike, Nightwish reactions are never too long! Plus your technical review is awesome, even for me as a non-singer. So take your time reviewing, it separates you from all the other "vocal coaches". We'll, you had the big three of NW, so or you will do the shorter NW songs, or you will take up Floors appearances on the Dutch TV show the Beste zangers, where she shows her versatility in all genres of singing. Waiting for Friday and Wednesday, regards!

With the different styles Floor can sing, just ask her "which styles can you sing?", Floor's answer "Yes".

I LOVE your enthusiasm! If I told you that Floor was growling like a demoness the second song on this concert, would you believe me? What I love about Nightwish is that they don't just deliver a concert, they deliver an experience, a whole emotional rollercoaster. After the concert you are so filled with emotions! BTW, Marco has his own solo projects :)
@wudruffwildcard2522 жыл бұрын
I really think that part that you mean the animalistic cavemen chant is actually done by Troy, he came back on stage right at the exact time and he has done it life in other concerts. Not that Floor couldn't have done it, but Nightwish more and more used Troy to give the other band members more space to recuperate.
@johnlindquist17842 жыл бұрын
@@wudruffwildcard252 I think he means that Floor growls in "Yours is an Empty Hope", the second song of this concert. And it was Floor doing the caveman grunt, not Troy or Marko.

Great reaction, and great Captain Kirk impression, you are only scratching the surface of what both Floor and Marco can do, for Marco, check out Nightwish's cover of "High Hopes" by Pink Floyd from their End of an Era show - or "the Islander" from Tampere Finland - the same show as this video, also "Phantom of the Opera" from the End of an Era concert also, this is with their original singer Tarja too. Just to give a taste of what Marco can really do :) So much more for you to experience, you have one hell of a journey ahead of you, Floor will constantly surprise you every time :)

One more thing: If you love complex voice work and like to explore some other parts of the metal community, heres a suggestion, from my personal favorites: Van Canto are a Accapella Hero Metal band. Yes, they are still metal, but they do it Accapella. There are 3 songs i can reccommend to grasp a bit of theit abilities and to get a sense of what they are capable of: First: Van Canto - Wishmaster Its a cover from a Nightwish Song (hence the connection) and its redicoulous and awesome at the same time. Second: Van Canto - If i die in battle This is one of their own songs, and i just reccomend it for purely selfish reasons (i was part of the musicvideo 😅 ) Third: Van Canto - Bards Call Its one of their best in my personal opinion. Voices of Fire is by far one of their best albums and this song grasps the progress this band has made through out their journey. A complete different thing, which i highly suggest too: They are one of the oldest Heroic Power Metal Bands out there, Blind Guardian. A German Power house, making music for over 30 years by now, mostly tackling fantasy topics and producing opulent long songs with orchestra and everything. Here i would reccomend the Video from Wacken, where they sang The Bards Song and Valhalla. Its 2 Songs for one but both are awesome and completely different

That is awesome. Tackling the epic trifecta right out of the gate. Almost watched you fall out of your chair was priceless. You wouldn't be the first. 😄 That's just a glimpse of what makes nightwish a great band. If you're interested in some other different vocals. The Islander live at tempere, Marko takes lead Yours is a Empty Hope live at Wembley, Floor showing off a different part of her vocals. (Hint pay attention to the chorus. That's not Marco) Harvest official lyric video. It's off their new album. Troy takes lead.
