Yep, the 2015 version is definitely better than the 2012 one. We can thank Sohyang's relentless drive to keep improving herself. I love gals with great work ethic. She's like a fine exquisite wine that gets better with age. Fun fact: not all wines are created equal and gets better with age, only the top premium ones. Sohyang definitely belongs in the premium category (raw physiological talent) and she had been properly aged in a controlled environment (TONS of disciplined training).

Few have done a back-to-back reaction of Sohyang's 2012 and 2015 I Have Nothing. Appreciate the video and taking note of Sohyang's growth in her singing, in terms of the management of the notes, transition, musical arrangement, and stage command. It's a clear tribute to her dedication to vocal discipline and focus on improvement. There is no self-indulgence of superior raw talent. And dare I say that she is getting better in spite of the natural order of human physiology. Sohyang has become a master of mixed voice after receiving lessons from Seth Rigg. YOu have received many recommendations and no need for me to add to the list. Look forward to your next reaction of Sohyang.

Many thanks for the reaction boss! It is true, in THIS particular performance, Sohyang has grown a lot during these three years, and it is clearly evident. Having said that, watching her back in '12 performing something like "Fate" or "Where are you" is truly a sight to behold. The 2015 version is the one that Oprah told David Foster about Sohyang and David invited her to sing for him in Tokyo last year....Too bad they disallowed filming her there but there is few snips from that performance around the internet...

Oprah Winfrey saw Sohyang's I have Nothing performance on KZbin and told David Foster (who wrote the song and produced it for Whitney Houston) about her. Foster invited her to perform with him at his concert last year. The show I Am a Singer was her first TV debut as a profession singer, and it was a big stage (most popular music variety show at the time). She did say it grew a lot as a singer from the experience.

Thanks for the good reaction. I watched 2012 version through the TV show and it was my first time to see her. It wasn’t perfect due to the high note part but it was beautiful enough. This year I knew she sang agian in 2015. It was amaging and perfect when I saw her second performance for this song. 2015 version shows us how much effort she has put into it.

Hi, In 2018, Oprah Winfrey overheard this performance of Sohyang on KZbin and was so surprised and moved that she told David Foster her story. David Foster made a tremendous effort to meet her after hearing this song of Sohyang and she performed with him in Japan that year in November at his earnest invitation. The first performance was so hyangs first time in the 'spotlight' and she wasn't as perfect as she is now Oprah found the 2015 video of so hyang and showed it to David Foster. he invited so hyang to perform and she sang the song again with him but unfortunately there's no video on KZbin. 노래 선생 입장에서 보자면 창법의 변화도 매우 큽니다. 소향씨 초기 때부터 지금까지를 보자면 발성의 전환이 많았던 가수중 한 사람입니다. 복면가왕때 소리는 또 다릅니다. 하관 사용의 비율이 높아졌지요. 그래서 고질적인 얇은 음색도 더 보완 되었고 호흡의 안정도도 늘었습니다. 정말 노력하는 가수라는 것을 느낍니다.

There are 4 playlists I've made of all eras of Sohyang's show performances. Though these playlists are not specifically made for reactors, they could represent all eras of Sohyang's big public performances, so i believe it's a good start. This is a playlist of Sohyang's songs from I am singer. Some versions are changed to her better performances of same songs in later years (well in my opinion). Given her past as a gospel singer, she often chooses secular songs into which she can inject her own spiritual interpretation, giving them more weight. In her hands, I think the possibility of a double meaning of a song such as the Beatles' "Here, There, And Everywhere" would be more evident.

Yeah 2012 one was Sohyang's first performance in I am Singer, so the arrangement itself wasn't as refined and she was really nervous singing to the large audience in contrast to her typical contemporary venues. There a lof of fancams of her I have nothing performances through 2013-2015 before this epic DMC version and there was constant improvement though time. And the final result of all of them became a masterpiece.
