Wow..... I guess i saw this coming but probably not to this extent. Calling us Racists seems like a big stretch, but ok. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Something that I think is being misunderstood is the term "Flat". I think that some people think that we're describing his voice as flat, which is wrong. We are saying Flat as in the musical term for being slightly under the pitch. He is singing a little bit out of tune. This is something that EVERY SINGLE SINGER has done before. Most singers struggle with this, including ourselves, and thats why we use it as a tool to learn from Marcelito. We know Marcelito is capable of singing in tune, he is a PROFESSIONAL SINGER! At the start of the video we say "Good singers sing Flat sometimes", this is because we get a lot of backlash from people thinking we're taking someone down when we're trying to normalize wrong notes. The best singers in the world have off days. I know that this will not change peoples minds about us. We just want to be correctly understood if we are going to receive this much hate.

use of the thang technique, use of vibrato impressive, marcelito sings with a voice head mix, always remains in resonance head mix, always stays between the third and fourth octave, then when he needs power he alternates the male and female head mix for go beyond the fourth octave of a note,I'm impressed because I'm Italian, I've been singing as a tenor for over 38 years.

The word you were looking for is “head voice”. And about your comment and preferring that he should sing with someone else, what he is currently doing is actually a traditional singing in the Philippines called “Doble-Kara”. But minus the half-half costume that doble-kara singers wear in the Philippines. So no, he shouldn’t do a duet with someone else just because you’re missing the harmony. He is keeping a style of Filipino singing alive. A cultural thing that isn’t seen often anymore as it was back in the day. Also too much ego attached. Relax a little bit. While staying educational and strict while staying neutral. You’re letting a lot of personal preferences take over a video instead of focusing on the technical and artistic side of things more. Who cares what voice you prefer from Dimash. It’s not a choice, it’s their brand of singing and their art. Not a standard that should or shouldn’t be for you or your students. They are artists. If you want to make this more educational, lose a bit of the ego and yourselves, and more on technical and artistic parts while still letting them be what they are instead of trying to mold artists into your own style or preferences. There’s just too much things about yourselves not enough on the art of singing itself. Just my 2 cents. I’m a nobody. 😊

drfdwf, I agree with you regarding the girl Melia about her EGO. Just because she's a Vocal Coach, she has the audacity to give an unsolicited and degrading comments. And I guess she's also jealous/envy with the Philippines that is full of Singers Locally and Internationally known compared to her compatriots. That's why she's trying tp demean Pilipino Singers. I heard their Duet of Drivers License and in my opinion nothing but mediocre and not even Live, compared to Marcelito on the Wishbus, wherein all singers are doing it Live. Maybe they don't know that the Singer of Drivers License, Olivia Rodrigo, is Half-Filipino.

the "superflat" which you downgraded later on to "minutely audible flats" are due to the style he chose (like the slides and celine-like vowels); and pop singing is different from classical also. Technically you may be right, but the styles he chose for me made him sound better. If he sang it the way you wanted him to sing it, it may turn out "lame" and "ordinary". I hope you get what i mean....sometimes it is about sounding "better" as opposed to sounding "correct". As you said- it is a matter of preference. Peace!

explanations and critique are fine and ok, but when that drags on and on for a longer time than the song itself, and when it criticizes song choices (like using celine's style) and even suggesting that he would be better of when not switching voices but doing one voice correctly (at least that is the feeling i got from those comments) it becomes annoying. and even when afterwards saying that it wasn't meant in a bad way and he didn't sing completely bad, that doesn't change much about what i perceived for half an hour in a reaction to a much shorter song. ps: maybe you could technically sing it better, but i don't think that even with two people you could give us the feeling to hear Andrea and Celine.

I've listened to at least twenty reactions to this cover and a lot of them have been by voice teachers. Amazing how all the others didn't pick up on the things you did. Just amazing......... You do know that english and Italian are not his native tongue, right? And he is trying to sound like Celine Dion. The fact that he can pronounce the vowels just like she does is pretty amazing. He's doing it on purpose. And just so you know, at the end, he's not yawning. The guys behind the scenes were teasing him about his female voice, and at the end, he's "spitting" the female out.

I'm a music teacher (30 years) and have very good relative pitch. Marcelito is not in tune all of the time, but it is not to the detriment of his performance. Some performers are painful to listen to, as they are sooo out of tune. Marcelito is fine. Listen to his entire performance (and other songs) before trying to 'fix' his intonation.

I have perfect pitch and I agree. Some notes are a little under pitch, but they’re not completely flat or off. IMO his “flatness” (I’d call it more just a bit under pitch at times) is not as flat as Melia makes it seem to be, but that’s my opinion. I am glad though they are sharing their critiques and opinions since many voice teacher reactions to this have no critical substance and they’re just blown, as they should be lol, but still.

Really of all the things to say about MARCELITO POMOY you say a lot of negative comments. Of all the decades of listening to great singers, he is a truly unique singer. Thousands of professional vocal coaches, teachers, and so on have never pointed that he sings flat. They do point out how difficult it is to go from female voice to male voice and it is simply astounding. I could go on and on, but I will say this there are millions of people who appreciate his talent. People admire him, for a man who grew up on the streets of the Philippines, homeless, and penniless. He also taught himself how to sing, with no technical training. My question is who are you? Have you had that much difficulty in your life?

Why do you feel so personally insulted by their comments, which by the way are totally correct. He is in fact flat on some notes, yet that doesn’t make him a bad singer. They are totally amazed by him, yet just point out minor mistakes. Marcelito is a one of a kind talent, yet was a little flat sometimes in this performance (who cares it happens to every great singer). Very childish to question their lives just because they point out some notes, because they never disrespect or not admire him in this particular reaction do they now? As u yourself said: he is a self-taught singer with almost no technical training, so doesn’t it makes sense that he might have some minor ‘mistakes’ here and there?

Yeah but this video was taken years after he’s already won PGT and has sang many many times on ASAP, showtime tv shows etc…and most artists have a vocal coach already. What you’re saying is just an excuse now. He has the experience, the lessons to better himself. But obviously not all artists are perfect. So what we can say is that Marcilito is a growing artist and learning to master his craft

He doesn’t sound flat to me. There are a few times when he seems just a little bit off, especially as he runs out of breath or just before a transition to the other voice. I suspect it’s partly that he’s getting a breath and quickly rearranging his vocal structures. After all, achieving the impossible isn’t easy. I don’t see how it could be done better. This is an extraordinary performance and his voice is gorgeous. I think you agree. I don’t know if you realize it, but there is a Philippine tradition of men singing in two voices, so it’s not strange there. He is singing in two foreign languages, which must add even more difficulty. He is not classically trained, he is self-taught. His little gesture at the end isn’t a yawn, he explained that he was spitting out Celine Dion.

For the people in the comments: DISAGREEMENTS ARE NOT GROUNDS FOR DISRESPECT. I think people care more about spectacle than substance. Marcelito’s singing here is not unimpressive by any means- singing in a character voice takes time and skill of sorts. However, when there are flaws or imperfections, there is no wrong in voicing that. They’re critiques as trained voice teachers with practical experience in the field is valid. After all it’s the teachers that are most often behind the greatest voices. Yes they have their preferences, but once again: DISAGREEMENTS ARE NOT GROUNDS FOR DISRESPECT.

Both of them aren't really that balanced but chase tends to do better at combining technique and artistry, he's more of the performer (tho, not really) compared to the girl who's more of the bookworm... Also, chase does a better job at explaining things that others would understand and not get annoyed... For the girl, the moment she paused the vid to open her mouth, people would immediately be annoyed by her, she's also egotistical and VERY VERY self-gratifying like she thinks what she says are IT... and she speaks A LOT and assume things before she watch too... Honestly, chase is a great looking man and a little bit well-behaved basing on some of their vids that I watched and I'm wondering how he get along with her... I love all Filipino singers (don't get me wrong, they're all amazing with their craft), but these music teachers are just giving their own perception based on what they hear, based on what Marcelito is giving to the audience. So many people offended in the comments. 😓 I'm a Filipino too, but they're right. _I'm not saying Marcelito is not a good singer. That's also not what Chase and Melia meant._ I personally enjoyed the objective analysis. Hope you guys continue reacting to Filipino artists. 😊

Pretty sure he was imitating Andrea Bocelli's style when he sang the lower part and Celine when he sang in his higher register. Many people who analyse him say his higher range is a mix and not all head. Also, I prefer his lower register. The part that gets me is his beautiful vocal tone. That's something that your born with. Please listen to his cover of Celine Dion's The Power of Love on the Wish Bus.

I mean once demonstrated y’all were correct about certain notes being audibly flat. Don’t listen to these crazy people who forfeit the truth for their biasness, I appreciate the honest reaction (you know, like they’re supposed to be.) 💗

@@sherwinobenza4531 Actually technically no they are extremely critical of themselves and their crafts and are the first to acknowledge a mistake. It’s okay to like an artist and be open to faults. Try it sometime.

Clearly you are so much in love with your own voices that you can't be bothered to listen properly.

@@stargrrl__ And yet they succeed to miss almost all the crucial points. If they are really coaches they are the worst I ever saw on YT.

@@UteNawratil there's 1 billion other videos of reactors/vocal coaches kissing up to their viewers and gloating over this guy's performance. go to those videos instead of whining bc you can't handle hearing criticism.

@@stargrrl__ I think I heard pretty much all of them. And the good ones name the weak points precisely as well as recognize the techniques that are used. And I'm not a fan of Mr. Pomoy, by the way. That's not why I find those two annoying. And looking to the other comments, it seems that I'm not alone.
