Neither Burney or Alabanese will answer questions around detail on limitations (e.g. National Press Club, July 2023), and when one of the expert panel was asked about showing voters draft legislation her response was it "would confuse voters and limit flexibility" (this was reported by Dana Morse of the the ABC on 19th Jan, 2023). This is further compounded by statements made by Voice advocate Thomas Mayo (MUA) in relation to rent and rebates. Whether you like it or not these statements and actions have been made and noted and undoubtedly impact on peoples thinking . Moreover, Linda Burney is the Minister for Indigenous Australians and its her role to aid that specific community, in other words she has all the powers required to lobby and legislate on behalf of our indigenous community. Another point, there is an assumption largely from the ALP - Yes campaign that Aboriginal Australians are a left-leaning monolithic block incapable of thought, reason and the ability to succeed or determine their own direction. A remarkable achievement for the ALP, an extraordinarily shallow view based on a surprising lack of understanding. There are some 250 language groups and up to 800 dialects known in Aboriginal Australia. This implies diversity of background, history, thought, culture and beliefs - hardly a surprise, and you wonder why there is very real dissent from well respected public figures who are Aboriginal Australians, along with elders from various communities. Two final factors - for many Australians, this wonderful country is a successful multicultural society, many from different backgrounds recognise that to enshrine one group in the constitution with a different level of access to government has all the appearances of a racist construct in its own right (no matter how well intentioned). Once again, activists can jump up and down and yell blue murder but it doesn't changes the facts in issue e.g. one group gets preferential access to government enshrined in the constitution. Lastly, anyone that knows anything about constitutional law recognises that any change to the constitution impacts on legislation developed thereafter and this in turn has an impact on how that legislation will be viewed in the High Court of Australia.

I agree. But we should have a movement that is equality for all Aussies. Why is one group getting extra funding for decades and still demands more. The Yes campaign, including federal ministers could help their case by simply answering the questions posed to them. For example; when asked if The Voice can advice the government on changing or abolishing Australia Day or if it can advise the government on defence policy, it is not helping itself by not answering; instead launching into some convoluted rationale on what they believe The Voice should do. The question is not what the Yes side believes or does not believe The Voice SHOULD do. The question is whether The Voice CAN do; and it is the failure to address such issues that causes such hesitancy among the voting public. The yes campaign may like to throw out the trope of racism, but that only reinforces distrust. They may like to continually claim that people simply don't understand. That's fine... So inform us a little better by answering the concerns; not spouting platitudes and glib patronizations. Contrary to personal beliefs, the Australian public are not complete idiots.

That's understandable, if a government is committed to closing the gap then it would probably listen to advice where the independent body of indigenous leaders recommended advice said a hypothetical policy would adversely impact indigenous communities or harm efforts to close the gap. The voice seeks to change 2 major issues modern day Australia have with their indigenous population. We are still the ONLY developed nation on earth that does not have a treaty with our indigenous population. The constitutional recognition of Indigenous Australians IS that final step in solidifing our treaty with native mob. Secondly the voice to parliament will be independent of parliament in that it cannot be defunded, modified or removed like successive advisory boards have been. Yes, we have had other aboriginal specific advisory boards but typically they have only lasted a couple of years to a decade at most before they are defunded into obscurity. That is why this time the deal is that it will be constitutionally protected. I will also add that the directive of the voice cannot be influenced by parliament which is why the yes campaign can't give people specifics yet, because it will be up to the voice to determine its own path and that can only happen if we vote yes to get it all started. I will also add that the voice cannot veto laws, it cannot even change laws unless it's ADVICE is accepted by the government of the time. The no campaign will have you think that the voice will have it all their way, take our land and money etc.. but the voice doesn't have powers to do that.. so it IS fear mongering to gaslight the Australian public into believing that.

And speaking of American Express, they can confirm that Voice actress turned volunteer Lisa Ng (And a friend of hers who represents the Toronto based "Hip urban girl" website and initiative) is a brand ambassador for Amex Canada, as one promotional video that was uploaded by them in the late 2010s. Prior to that, Lisa Ng was the voice of Dana on the 2005 pilot and the 2006-08 Canadian cartoon comedy, "Wayside", which really didn't have a big cult following in Australia compared to the US, UK and of course, Canada.

The no brainer argument for me is that Australia was federated, very clearly, with the extinction of Aboriginality as a central feature. A few retrofits over time have happened, but for the most part, these design features still run in the background. The those opposing the voice please note. The voice is designed to unite Australia, give a platform where the white man no longer is the dominating voice effecting the lives of indigenous Australians. Education rates amongst Aboriginal Australians is abysmal in comparison to white Australia. incarceration rates I'm Australia disproportionatly represent our Indigenous communities, and the plain life expectancy of Indigenous Australians 8 years worse of compared to their non-idigenous counterparts. A voice won't fix these issues on there own but it will get people who understand Indigenous culture, life, and values to the table in seeking solutions to reconciliation efforts with white Australia, in building a Australia where each of us get a fair go not based upon the coulor of our skin. It won't be perfect, no policy ever is but it will do significantly more than what's currently in place. Forcing governments to recognise the facts within indigenous issues now and into the future. Such large changes in Australian society is scary, implementing gun laws, Medicare and Australia becoming a federation. But without those big changes occurring you wouldn't have many best aspects of Australian society. A yes vote recognises the injustices of the past, but a willingness to reconcile for the future. A no vote turns a blind eye to the inherent racist policys made for Aboriginal Australians in the past opening the doors to allow future governments to make the same mestakes that history now frowns so strongly upon. Feel free to respond but structure your arguments or questions in a logical, objective mannor please.

Plus, why is their education not the same as everyone else when there's also school there or their health. It's not just white, we are yellow. We can't even speak fluent English when we got there, but we worked hard and get to university. Get better than average grades, apply to hundreds of jobs before we got a look at. But once we get a job we work hard and sometimes we get a raise. No one measured our life expectancy or health outcomes etc. we work so hard it's crazy. Even from primary schools most Asians kids are expected to learn and be responsible, respect the teacher. We probably work too hard so have bad health outcome too. Also, have you thought about the fact that natives had bad health outcome to begin with? Maybe it's not something to do with the society, it's just their genetic make up. Like how some Japanese always have a longer life span compared to white people? Change can happen and needs to happen from within the family instead of some organisation telling them etc. it's change from within. I have friends who tells me to start to look at investments after working a few years. They are not from any organisation or get pay to share their ideas. It's not fair Aussies are paying and have paid billions of dollars and it still doesn't work. Just get their own community to speak to their people if they want the community to change. No need for funding, these are community volunteer work. The other thing is, maybe this group don't want to go to school or work. It's in the culture to roam around and find food. So why are we expecting them to work if they just don't want to. At the end of the day. It should be same funding for all. No special funding to any particular group.

There are indigenous people who aren't suffering but are successful. There are non-indigenous people who are suffering the results of generational poverty with the related issues such as crime and substance abuse. Judging indigenous people as if they're some kind of monolith is a mistake. If we want to close the gap we need to stop acting as if indigenous people are a special case. They're not, they're people just like everyone else. The fact that so many of our fellow Australians are suffering is an issue but if we want to get to the root cause of the issue, which in my opinion is the basic idea of us vs them, we need to start looking at people as people, not as racial groups. Tribalism is a thing and isn't going to go away. It seems to be human nature. If we were to stop focusing on suffering indigenous communities as indigenous and instead focused on them as our fellow Australians regardless of race then we may start to move towards a point where tribalism works in everyone's favour. The voice doesn't do any of this. The voice enshrines in our constitution the idea that indigenous Australians are somehow different to the rest of us. The idea that the voice is unifying seems to me to be a sick joke.

G'day, Apparently the people opposing the Concept of Aborigines & Torres Straights Islanders Having ANY Voice to Parliament Enshrined in the Constutution...
