Loved listening to this while at work, me actually practicing this will be a bit later though. Good to see you again Mary Z. Personally, I like the fact you decided to keep the guitar scar in your brow, it looks bad ass \../,

Love watching your videos, just saw the comment, would love to see your reaction to Edge Of Paradise as well! Singer from that band is so different from anyone I've heard in a metal band!

Do you have any daily vocal exercises for beginners to practice 30 minutes a day and improve my beginner voice?

I have just started, and at the age of 14 I am planning on making a heavy metal band. Where should I start my vocals? I am lost.
@brysonrichey67073 жыл бұрын
Learn how to sing normally, softly. Get familiar with your voice, and all of the different sounds and textures you can produce. Please find good warm ups, follow them every time you practice. Start soft, and simple, until you start to get better with breath control and make sure your vocal chords can handle the extra air. Don’t try too much at once or you can do permanent damage. Most importantly: don’t be afraid to make funny, ugly, goofy, wild sounds. For a while you probably will sound like an injured cat. But, so did your favorite vocalist.

Hi Mary, I notice a little sensation in my throat when doing this exercise. Is that maybe too much air? thank you!
@JennyPenny1234567893 жыл бұрын
Quick question, hope it's not too off topic with regards to this post 😊 After doing vocal practices and exercises with clean voice when is it safe to start to transition into heavier singing, especially black metal style in practice and exercise and then to actually sing that way? Thanks so much in advance, I am so glad I found your channel. Really grateful for the amount of resources you offer here on KZbin for free! 🥰😘🙏🤘💀🖤

Very good exercise. I like that even a beginner like me can follow along. I made it from the start to a note before you said it was the point that mezzos definitely should drop out. Is that good range for a woman with no training and 30 years of smoking?

hey Mary, was curious what kind of mic you use in your videos? I'm pretty bad at shopping for this kind of stuff but like the clarity on yours for heavy vocals.

Hey Mary, great content as always, I have a question, it's a little bit off this topic, I am kinda concerned with the steam trick, it will affect my lung health? Because you are kinda inhaling steam, idk if it's bad for your lungs So please if you read this, I would appreciate a reply Sorry for the inconvenience You are one of my favourite content creators Xoxo
@voicehacks3 жыл бұрын
I would ask your physician first just to be sure! But as far as I know if the water is clean and the ingredients you add to the steam are safe and natural, it is safe for the lungs! Often I do those tricks when I am sick and have lung problems.

A weird kind of irrelevant question but... I've been watching your videos for a minute and I've learned the difference between yelling and screaming. I've realized what I do is yelling, and screaming isn't really the sound I'm looking for. I'm also looking to keep having a voice. Is there a way to yell, regularly, with minimal damage to the vocal chords? (Warm ups, breathing exercises aside). Thanks!

When people scream, is there any attempt to scream "in key?" (Hitting notes or pitch matching) Or is screaming more like rap or regular talking (or even percussion) in this regard? I cannot find any definitive information on the subject.
@casstrumbley81072 жыл бұрын
While I'm sure there are vocalists who scream without thought of key or pitch, most metal vocalists are truly hitting their notes... I suggest you check out James Hetfield's vocals in Metallica's "for whom the bell tolls."
