@rileyneufeld70012 жыл бұрын
Devon is so knowledgeable about armwrestling and knowing what to do at the table. I remember watching him explain how he rushed the catch against Taras ivakin and essentially gave Taras all position and tried to catch him the last inch from the pad he had been able to do prior. You must fight them all the way until that catch even though you know they are going to beat you all the way to it. I felt this exact thing in my first tournament. I tried to conventionally toproll, got flashed. Then I tried to dive into a defensive hook, got flashed. I then posted as hard as possible and fought from center. Lost my cup, that's okay, lost center table, that's fine, lost pronation slightly, trust the process... And I was able to keep my post and catch him right before the pin! From there I was able to out-armwrestle him and go on to win the match. All that from listening to Devon explain allowing yourself to lose certain fundamentals to retain others when you're not the stronger man!
@johnhorner19692 жыл бұрын
In jiu jitsu there is a saying “position before submission.” Which means you shouldn’t always be working to submit your opponent, especially from weaker positions. I think armwrestling is the same. You can’t pin until you have achieved control or have a position of superior court tell over your opponent, whether hand control, or a hook you pull to your side of the table, then you can proceed to pin. I think I’d guys started to reframe the sport as first gaining superior control then working on pinning, you’d have more success.
@BuJammy2 жыл бұрын
That's kindof the European style. Center > Slam.
@georgepoly48422 жыл бұрын
there's different styles. Todd hutchings knows that he will never have the biggest strongest hand so he doesn't care as much about position as he does for sideways strength. It really depends on your physical traits, but pronation, cupping and rising will always be the most important things as they get you the position you need to win.

This is interesting to me now because devons far stronger and toddzilla knows alot about arm wrestling he said it take 2 tries sometimes with a guy the size of levon. And he thinks devo could pull it off second chance.

You two riff so well about armwrestling, I find sometimes with devon chatting to some people it gets repetitive and his knowledge just superseeds so much its one way but with you its very good flow

Devon will always the GOAT in my book, not John. No one loves AW more than him.

I thought Devon had this same lesson with Denis. You’re not even in the match unless you can get your peak power close

Devon shows a great insight here about purification but in all honesty, he was and is a long way off of Levan. He's way too small. He needed to bulk up in a big way but didn't.

He should take pumpkin pancakes.

Devon is just a classic ectomorph. There's plenty of eating videos where Devon puts it down. Matt Mask even acknowledged that he can't believe how much Devon eats. It's just genetics and Devon's body fights him. You can't have the best of all worlds. Nobody has endurance like Devon, but there's going to be caps on his strength. Just like how Chaffee has insane strength and not great endurance. At this stage in Devon's career I think he should just compete at 110kg. It's where his body wants to be.

He bulked up as much as he could, he was just too far off.

@@BuJammy I think he was more bulked against Todd, but I also think it was too harsh on him to get that big.
