Note to Geoff: Heimdahl called. He wants his Gjallarhorn back. ☄️ I love that they have J starting out separately, staring out across the water in this. He’s been away and now he’s coming back home. A lot of the costuming and makeup is from My Mother Told Me when J was a regular member. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay. I am not generally a fan of rap, but the lyrics fit so well (even with some references to him currently serving in the military). J was going so fast that even with closed captioning I had to rewind!

Some corrections - Valhalla is the place for warriors who die in battle, and they fight every day, in preparedness for Ragnarok where they are fighting on the side of the gods. They don't fight for "all eternity". People who died by other means, went to Hel, and would be part of Hel's troops, fighting on the side of the giants (Jætter)

Minor clarification: Valhalla is not a separate place from Asgard. It is the name given to Odin's halls, located within Asgard, and it is where everyone, warriors and gods alike, gather to feast after their day of fighting and training, preparing for the coming of Ragnarok.

That's a B0 Geoff does, and holds for 15 seconds the first time, later on he does it for 10 seconds. I think someone said Eli goes up to a B5. Quite right about Valhalla. Clearly fighting is their idea of heaven. Quite right about viking too. The people were not all going viking , many were traders, all over Europe. Incidentally the runes on Cesar'sface say VoicePlay. :) All the odd sounds have to be Layne. Miracle of Sound who wrote and performed this song originally gave this version 10 out of 10. I will need to correct the terms you are right about half and half going to Odin and freyja but it's not called vanir that is a clan of the gods vanaheim is the world they will be in but the feast hall for freyja is called volkvangr where Odin's is Valhalla in Asgard
@Roguefem76 Жыл бұрын
@@thomasdavis5675 You're partly right- Vanaheim is one of the Nine Realms on Yggdrasil (the World Tree), and the Vanir are its people. A few gods come from there, but not all Vanir are gods. The other realms are Asgard (realm of the gods), Midgard (realm of mortals), Jotunheim (realm of the ice giants, or Jotunn), Muspelheim (realm of fire giants), Alfheim (land of the light elves), Svartalfheim (realm of the Dark Elves), Niflheim, and Hel. @@thomasdavis5675 Bro, you're the one taking all your info from the MCU. Jotunheim WAS one of the original Nine Realms, and the Vanir were NOT all gods. Do some research from actual Norse sites, Jotunheim is _literally mentioned in the Prose Eddas._ Yikes, bro. And for your information, I DO know that Loki was Odin's blood-brother, not adopted son, and Hel was Loki's daughter by Angrboda, NOT sister. Also he was from Muspelheim, not Jotunheim, which was why his hair was red, not black.

Loved your reaction as usual, guys. Thank you for the lecture about Norse mythology, I appreciate. 🙂 Yep, these guys keep improving on EVERY aspect and pushing themselves further at every new song. Can't even THINK of what they'll pull off their hats at the end of the year. 😁 You may have noticed that their costumes and makeups are the same they wore in "My Mother Told Me", you may remember your hashtag #FoghornGeoff 😉. At that time J None was a regular full time member of VP, and they featured José Rosario Jr. This time there's Cesar wearing the same hooded cloak José was wearing back then, and they feature J None as a guest... Although for many of us he never REALLY "left", he's just in pause, but he's still righteously a Voiceplay member. 🙂 ALL the video was filmed at Vü Studios in Orlando, Eli created all the scene they were filmed against in Unreal Engine and they weren't in front of a green screen but of a FULL WALL LED screen where all the scenes Eli created in Unreal Engine were "projected". That rumbling, devastatingly low note Geoff sings almost at the beginning, starting when J None is "alone" saying "Me...", is a freaking B0 subharmonic that he sustains for about 15 seconds. He will hit another one and sustain it for 10 seconds later in the song... Together with a hellish amount of other scaring low notes. 😁 Cesar showed his gritty, fierce Berserker side, and I appreciate it a lot 🙂. Oh, and the runes on his face say "Voiceplay". What a nice touch. 😁 Layne... Well, EVERY weird sound here, INCLUDING the creaks of the wooden "door" where J is supposed to be walking through, are made by him. And his beatboxing just reached another Universe. I don't even understand how he THINKS of some of the sounds he makes. And J None... That rap KILLED me. That flow was first class. 🙂 Thank you for your reaction(s), I love watching you guys. 🙂 See you next time!

Nice reaction guys. I love how you just enjoy everything about the production and the vocals. This song is EPIC! FYI Valhalla is a great hall in Asgard presided over by Odin. Half of those who die in combat enter Valhalla, while the other half are chosen by the goddess Freyja to reside in Fólkvangr. The masses of those killed in combat (known as the Einherjar) along with various legendary Germanic heroes and kings, live in Valhalla until Ragnarök when they will march out of its many doors to fight in aid of Odin against the jötnar. It also acts as a training ground for all the warriors who will eventually fight in the final battle at Ragnarok - the twighlight of the gods. It is a series of events that are foretold to be the end of the world and the old gods. After which the world is reborn, cleansed, fertile, and ready to be repopulated. New gods will arise and two human survivors will spawn a new era of humanity.

I usually pick a favorite from each video but there was NO way to do that this time. Layne's arrangement and percussion were killer. Eli the rock god did tons of tech work on this with Unreal Engines using LED screens. Cesar was channeling his inner berserker and it was great to hear him with a little grit. J spittin' those bars left my mouth hanging open. Geoff the earthquake god hit THREE B0s, the first of which he held for 15 seconds. VoicePlay may have Layne, but they certainly don't have a "lane" musically. Everyone in this group has a 5 octave range now except Layne who can hit 6 octaves with sound effects. VoicePlay+Viking=EPIC! VoicePlay has now done two songs with added lyrics and Geoff wrote a bridge for his latest, Man of Constant Sorrow. I know Layne and Tony have written original songs for PattyCake productions so I'm hoping sometime soon we'll see an original song for VP. These guys just don't have equals when it comes to arranging and theatric videos.

Remember when you guys reacted to their cover of "My Mother Told Me" last year? This is the sequel. Most of their makeup and some of the costumes are the same, and Cesar is wearing Jose Rosario Jr.'s cloak from that video.

18:25 - Don't sleep on Thor's brother Tyr though - he was quite an important god when it came to battles :) - like this, taken from wikipedia: In Sigrdrífumál, the valkyrie Sigrdrífa imparts in the hero Sigurd knowledge of various runic charms. One charm invokes the god Týr: 'You must know victory-runes if you want to know victory. Carve them into your sword's hilt, on the blade guards and the blades, invoking Tyr's name twice.' I'd guess Layne on that scratching/white noise shenanigans. I think Geoff helped throw some subharmonics in that as well. I've probably listened to the song some thirty times and still trying to wrap my brain around it.

This reaction was amazing! Thanks guys. Randomly it popped into my head to ask though, if you haven't heard it can you react to Postmodern Jukebox's cover of "Creep" sung by Haley Reinhart?
