Thank you Jerry for your service and Larry for bringing these amazing heroes stories to us. I have two Vietnam combat veterans that come almost everyday and hang out at my place in the barn where I work at a trout hatchery in the Allegheny mountains of Pa just to get away from everything and be around other vets that served in Mogadishu, Iraq and Afghanistan. There's no age between these vets when they're together and they look after me like a bunch of mother hens. I love them as my brothers and am so proud to call them "my vets". They always have time to talk to another veteran no matter what age and they all interact as family. I can't express enough to any veteran how appreciative I am of ALL of them. They too like you and Larry and also myself know the dangerous path this nation is going down right now. But there's nobody I'd rather have at my side than these guys. My son's love these guys as family also and would do anything for them and it lightens my heart to see that. God bless you all. 🇺🇲

Thank you Sir, for sharing the stories of these Great Men. And thank you Jerry for your service. My Dad was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He was fortunate enough to be stationed in Germany, England, and South Korea. My Father suffered from survivors guilt the rest of his life. He tried to hide it, but it was always lurking near the surface. All but 3 men of his basic training platoon were sent to Vietnam. All were KIA. He kept a stack of letters stamped KIA that he had written to all of them until about 10 years ago. I remember the day he asked me to burn them. I should have kept them. He passed in November 2020. I hope every day that his soul is finally at rest.

WOW! I recently rewatched your original interview with Gerry as it impressed me greatly the first time. Larry, you have done several excellent interviews but, if this is not one of or the best then I don't know what is. I found myself experiencing heartfelt emotions for this mans experiences. Your country & mine needs more people like you. Gerry, I hope that Larry can pass on my comments. You are truly an exceptional human being. This last 1/12 hours has gone buy so very quickly. You have a knack of telling your story that many others do not possess. Politically we are siamese twins. My country (Australia) is not the same one that I grew up in; I am of a similar age to you. People seem to have all the rights in the world, which is ok but, they also have none of the responsibilities; how can that work? Once again I find the level of patriotism & love of your country refreshing. I would really to meet you Gerry but, that is not going to happen in this lifetime. I am thinking that our politicians have for ages been sprooking about how proud they are of our modern multicultural society; problem is that 'we' have multi-cultured our national identity out of existence. I will now go looking for the 'Pontius Pilate wrote to Cesar' letter.

Dear Mr Cappeto, Thank you for sharing and most helping these wonderful brave veterans tell their story. I've heard it from a few how it helps them as well. Sad so many today don't know and worst don't want to know it seems the extreem sacrifice veterans and soldiers have made and their lives changed forever with their service for all of us in this freedoms we have left. My father was a Korean veteran but never spoke of it to me even when asked. Now with all this I'd like to thank and salute Mr. McNelly for sharing his story, and as many you've interviewed touches me deeply and proud even more so. Thanks again God Bless! Erik NC

The troops were supposedly gone by the time I turned 18 but I've always be fascinated by veterans stories. Sadly or not there are so many of them that just won't tell their stories. My dad who was in Korea would start but then clam up. The story of Jerry's dad re-enlisting surely saved his life. While I'm sure there are other stories out there where the FNG saw the level of combat as quickly as Jerry, I just haven't heard them yet. His story had the tears flowing as I watched and listened. Thank God he gave these men the courage and compassion to help the man beside him stay alive.
