Chet, sometimes I look at my life and my work with these Veterans and it seems like a long time ago. When I hear the stories and look at the photos of myself with all these Veterans it almost seems like somebody else was doing the work. I don't know if that makes sense or not. My work has become very bitter sweet having lost hundreds of my Veterans. I take a hit every time I learn about the passing of one of these heroes. I think what I feel is best summed up by a gentleman in Montana who made a comment a couple years ago: From Montana Horseman: "I've pondered in the past that it must be a difficult thing for you to have met and spoken to so many, then learned of, and felt their passing so personally. That's a very honorable burden to carry. You are continuing Lam's message and desire, it's apparent it's reaching people by the comments on this video. You have truly honored him both now and into the future by sharing this. It's OK to smile through tears sometimes my friend. All the very best to you Larry."

It is hard losing a friend... especially these humble heroes. But I'm so glad you gave them a platform where they know they are respected and appreciated. Though their passing hurts, you've given them such a great gift in interviewing them... dignity, respect, and a sense of worth. On behalf of the heroes, thank you for that Larry. @@VoicesofHistory

They're more than just a name on a wall. We, as a civilized society, are guaranteed certain unalienable, God given rights. Yet even though we have certain liberties and rights, we cannot allow our liberties to compromise our freedoms, lest we be judged for our complacency. Our Flag, our flag IS a living entity in and of itself because when you see it waving in the air, it is being moved be the last breath of EVERY person that gave all, or part, of their life in order to guarantee the symbolizm, the meaning, the rights guaranteed by, and the future of that flag..and our country. And I will always remember, i will always stand fast and vigilant in my morals, principles, and beliefs, to help insure nothing be forgotten. Thank you for what you do, Larry

I have a Uncle that was in the 101st he was my dads best friend. My Uncle Leroy. I can tell you some crazy stories that I was told by him. My Uncle went on to serve half his life in service. He was in Nam then NKorea then went on to be deployed for Operation Desert Storm then Afghanistan he was an still is proud. He spent the last part of his military career in a hospital from having mental issues. When the skuds an iud's started blasting he was discharged cause of it. To many wars. I never got to know him before the service an what he was like. I sure love that man. Tough old dude. 3 conflicts/wars..

Vietnam was the most humiliating defeat for the US military since the Confederacy lost the Civil War, and the casualties were about the same. The Marines were fighting in a landscape that their current training had ignored. The Air Force dropped more bombs than in WW2. The US Army was full of what commentators called McNamara's Morons, and the generals were incompetent until Abrams came along too late to change tactics from infantry action to counter insurgency. The same set piece actions using firebases (forts) persist in doctrine today. It goes back to the Indian Wars. It allowed Iraq to be lost and also Afghanistan. It took the Australian SAS led by Maj General Jim Moran to rescue US troops from Fallujah and cleaned it up. There should be no celebration.
