Kris, this is one of the most stunning stories I've ever heard. I always wondered what it would be like to be a twin. You can relate to Lloyd's story.

As a peacetime Marine 1962-1966 I made a number of landings in LCVPs, Higgins type boats with a steel front ramp. The first people into the boat kept constant tension on the cargo net so that it didn't sag between the ship's hull and the boat as it rose and fell in the waves. We never had any injuries getting into the boats. Regarding the helmet/grenade: When we went to the grenade range, they had the following displays: What remained of an M-1 steel helmet that they had detonated a grenade under, with a sandbag on top. Part of the helmet was flat, and it had holes in it. The other display was sheets of plywood that had been painted white and nailed to trees at different distances, to illustrate the "kill radius" and the "wound radius" of our modern grenades. Japanese grenades were cylindrical with 2.3 oz explosive. American WWII grenades were MK 2s AKA "pineapple grenades," filled with 2 oz or explosive. The ones I threw were MK 26 grenades with 5.75 oz explosive..

Thank you for putting these together, My Grandfather was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and fought in the South Pacific. Because these men sacrificed so much, for freedom, and for country. We will never let freedom not ring, from sea to shining sea. Too much blood has been shed for We The People to let freedom end with me or my generation. Rest In Peace, Sir...We will take it from here.

My heart truly was taught an incredible lesson, listening to this man pour out his. The ability to gather up your brothers remains and carry him on your back and ask for water to wash him, made me weep. The dignity and love and respect is mind-blowing under these circumstances, how he managed to hold it together and go back to the line, shows his true colours. Sir. You have my respect and humble gratitude. This has to be the most raw interviews I have watched, and I have watched many. God bless and keep all those who fell and never came home, and those who remain and carry the memories of war.

I really appreciate what you’re doing Larry. I want to learn about what my grandfather lived through and was apart of. Your interviews are as close as I can get. Thanks you!

Thank you sir . My Pop Pop said several times men cracked under the pressure. Crossing the Roer River and Stavlot with mass artillery barrages German 88s and the rocket pods (screaming meamies)He said after several campaigns the old timers were almost all gone . Once from the Army Air Core bombing during the break out from Saint Loe they took mass casualties both times they started their advance the bombs fell short. His unit also found the executed American prisoners at Malmendy. Most of the old timers excepted that sooner or later your number would come up so you might as well do the best you can till then. My Pop was the sweetest old man you’d ever wanna know , he was never the same after the war , so I’m told. I thank God for him and all those who sacrificed and endured so much to beat back the the Axis .

My dad was part of the 21st Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He served on Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima islands. He was in communications, I assume in the rear area, which is probably why he survived without a scratch. He talked to me _(his only son)_ *VERY LITTLE* about the experience, and it was only because I ended up with his discharge papers when he passed that I was able to piece what I have together. Looking back? I wish I would have joined the Marines, because there wasn't a Marine (young or old) that he wouldn't talk to. I _'came of age'_ as we were pulling out of Vietnam, so I'm sure I would have survived the war, probably not even going overseas.

I'm glad this guy made it home but strength has nothing to do with a bomb hitting you square at that point it does not matter how strong you are this man survived because the bomb did not hit him it hit someone else and anything other than that is speculation but I do know that God ( Jesus ) does protect and at the same time keeps his word that we all have our time. ( no matter a persons beliefs..... feelings do not change reality )
