What a strong testimony of bravery and duty, I feel that this hero told me what my uncle Bertil could not as he was in the 4th Marine division also and was kia on February 20 on the same island, may God rest his soul.

What an in depth description of of the actions he endured. He's quite a veteran I don't want to say he enjoyed relating his story, I feel he wanted to be as thorough as possible. That's plenty of courage to just to do that.

Steve, Gunny Renstrom is the best!!! They never will make them like him anymore. He has gone to his eternal rest but his legacy lives on through this work that I'm doing. This is one of the best interviews I have. Glad you watched it.

Thank you for your service Gunny! It is such a terrible reality that this great generation of Americans is no longer with us. I was fortunate enough to be a grandson of WW2 veterans. The world will no longer be the same without them. May they live on amongst us in our hearts and minds forever!

Keith Renstrom was one of my most favorite WWII Veterans Tim. I miss him dearly!! So glad you got to hear his story. Have you also seen the WAR ROOM videos I did with him? He is also featured in my IWO JIMA documentary.

Such a great interview. One of my great uncles was a corpsman in the marines in ww2. He went through the entire Japanese campaign unscathed. He always said God was watching over him. We had 3 neighbors who fought in the same campaign. The one guy was captured and tortured. The top of his head was flat from the Japanese beating him over the head with bamboo. He was fortunate enough to escape. All these people are deceased now. Thank you for your service. God bless!

I was a peacetime Marine in a rifle company for two years of my time in the Corps 1962-1966, and made a number or practice landings, some in LCVPs, some in "Mike" boats, some in AMTRACs, and some in helicopters. When you went down the cargo nets, the first people into the boat kept tension on the net so that it didn't sag between the boat and the ship as it rose and fell. You never let go of the net until both beet were in the boat; if you let go before then, you might drop as much as ten feet because the difference the waves caused between the ship and your boat. Since the Gunny was in 4th Division, he was on the part of the beach farthest from Suribachi. While I was in G Co 2/2--a rifle company--our Gunnery Sergeant was Charles Dean, an Iwo Jima survivor.

Thank you sir for your service to our great country. You are truly a great man. You're right when you said 5hat these younger generation of kids want everything for. What they fail to understand is that what they want for free, someone else is paying for. The freedom we have today, was paid dearly for, by men and women like yourself. I think that we owe you a debt that we can never repay, all we can do is to remember your sacrifice, and to honor you. God bless you and your family sir.

Tears streaming down my face right now! God blessed this man with faith. Without faith its close to impossible to be the kind of man Keith is. We still have young men today - men who will defend America to the very last measure and sacrifice themselves if necessary to save their buddies. In his day these kinds of men came from New Jersey, Oregon, NY, Cali, and every part of America in between. Today they come from Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio. They come from the places today’s pronoun sensitive elite Lefties that sip iced lattes at Starbucks while playing video games like to call “fly over country”. Praise be to God Almighty for giving us men like Keith!

Thank you. My Unkle Mike was a Major in a regimental combat team on Iwo. He never talked about it, He was wounded covering the withdrawal of the people and received the Bronze Star. He was in Annapolis having come from within the Marines. He was a senior when Pearl Harbor was attacked and was immediately graduated and returned to the Corps

Ira Hays with a rain poncho on his backside, they took him a 2 outhers n sent them around the country selling war bonds n Ira didn't want to do that n he drank n when discharged I think he died a short distance from his house of the elements. Correct me if I might be wrong.
