Years ago I was on a business trip to NYC and had the opportunity to attend the service at St. Thomas Episcopalian Church and watch this choir live. It is the kind of experience I will never forget.

When John Scott died, that was a huge loss! I wish I could have been there to take his place!

The carved stone reredos (fancy word for a religious altar piece) up front in Saint Thomas is the largest in the world.

And all of the figures in it were carved all the way around, then installed. The Rose window is the fourth largest in the world. Evan Horton, class of '73, brother of two previous choristers.

I'm a little confused; is the conductor of the choir Daniel Hyde? I know him as the Director of Music of the Choir of King's College, Cambridge. Why is he in NYC now?

He was at St. Thomas at the time of filming this video, but he was there for only a few years before he went to King’s College and followed Stephen Cleobury there.
