VOIVOD with JASON NEWSTED - Live at Revolution Live (Ultra HD)

This is fan-filmed footage of the last two songs of the VOIVOD live performance at Revolution Live, Fort Lauderdale, on May 16th, 2023, where they were joined by former METALLICA and VOIVOD bassist JASON NEWSTED.

God I love this band so FUCKING much - I've been a fan since 1980s - Voivod's music has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life. Not to sound overly dramatic but Voivods music has been an escape for me for decades and not sure I would be here alive today without Voivod. I've lived so much of my life feeling like I am outcast in the wrong universe and wrong timeline and somehow VoiVod made it feel like I wasn't alone.

dude I right there with you as well. first song I heard from them was 1980 something? lol my friend took me to his friends house to get an 8th. went in his room and on cassette in a big ass boom box was blaring this chaos it was so intriguing and fast and I couldnt keep up with it, it was all tangled up and distorted it had so much direction and cadence it blew my fukin mind. song was Cockroaches. got to see them a few times and meet them. i love every era from them even the Eric Forrest era. super heavy. I got Away's book. if you didnt get a copy of that it's well worth the money if they are still available. Away breaks down every album with stories and fact nuggets that is so cool of him to share. explains how they all got their names too stuff like that. and so much of his artwork.

I remember seeing them at Sundance a club on Long Island in New York back in early 90’s. Packed house and as soon as they started playing the crowd went insane! Seemed like one huge slamming pit, fights broke out- one right in front of me. They sounded awesome too, love them live. This crowd looks like they need some bath salts or something, but it is Florida 😂🎉

WOW i did not know this footage existed, i had not seen footage of Jason with them how interesting, completely different Vibrational Frequency! i remember, my Brothers, the Anniversaire 2007...i should have INSISTED that i PLAY the VOD stuff that night but i did NOT i regret that...the Candles, Piggy's Guitar on the stage...HE WAS THERE. Metal Quebecois dude, DBC VOIVOD DAMNATION etc PIGGY WAS THERE man i FELT him there. and the Vibe i got was that he was so happy man hee hee BUT the footage i filmed from behind the stage which had such an excellent sound alas is lost in time...rrgghh well, at least theres the House Camera stuff, truly a night to remember! I was never a metal fan (nor i was a hater, i liked some stuff, despiced some too), but many of my friends turned from punk/ hardcore to thrash/death/black metal. VOI VOD were one of the bands that had original style. Not a big fan, but big respect from me. I love weird melting of styles. CELTIC FROST is an example too. They were good even at their worst (the glam sell out,forgot the record title, FROZEN LAKE?!)

Jason recorded the first F&J album, then Metallica noticed him at one of their shows and tapped him to leave Flotsam. So, not sure about that being the right thing. Maybe if he's asked to play anything live from Doomsday, but other than that...

He did, in 2012 they rehearsed regularly for a Doomsday anniversary tour but schedule wise he said it didn't work out though he wrote several new songs with them that were included on the ugly noise album. He then decided to form the Newsted band.

so what are we supposed to make of this?...voivod was an awesome band. jason newsted came from a pretty good band (flotsam and jetsam) and then joined an ok band (metalica) that was considered awesome. Then he joined the awesome band Voivod....is newsted overrated or was his trajerctory a problem?
