Prachtige muziek. Georgische monniken. Door Werner Herzog gebruikt in zijn film Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht, en door Kate Bush in haar nummer Hello Earth van de cd Hounds of Love.

1st discovered this in the Werner Herzog remake of Nosferatu back in the early eighties and would play this bit of the film over and over again. A few years later I tried to incorporate it into a composition of mine, then Kate Bush sampled it. Anyhow, if anyone interested i'll try and post it. All in all thanks to the vocal ensemble, very inspiring!!!!!

This is roots music from Georgia, one of the first countries to be Christianized. It's deeply spiritual.

Marco, they still do…… in Georgië. In the west they have never created something like this. It’s typical Georgian. Every country has its diamonds, but his one belongs to Georgië 🇬🇪 The lyrics translate as “I walked by the spring; met a beautiful girl; the one holding a jar on her shoulder; I told her a word; she got angry with me and stood aside.

Oh, really? I listened to that album around All Saints' Day in Poland. The time when people go to cemeteries to visit their families and friends graves... So the very special atmosphere to listen to Kate Bush's "Hello Earth" with that male chant interludes.

Werner Herzog and Kate Bush were equally negligent in properly crediting where the music came from and who it belonged to. And this is not the version Herzog used in Nosferatu.

Herzog definitely credited the music to the Gordela Ensemble in Nosferatu's opening credits, and this recording sounds more-or-less exactly like the recording used in the film

I heard this as background music in an episode named "Bushido" of "Miami Vice", in 1985 (season 2, episode 8) directed by Edward James Olmos. This choral piece was used in a Kate Bush song called "Hello Earth", which is where Jan Hammer, the musical producer and composer of "Miami Vice" found it, and used it in "Bushido". Het is een prachtig lied, maar dit wordt niet gezongen door Georgische monniken, maar door Ansambli Gordela, een van de vele volksmuziekkoren in Georgië. De tekst is ook niet religieus en heeft verder ook niets met de film Nosferatu te maken (dat blijkt wel uit de vertaling).
