Hello there! It’s finally here, my drum playthrough of our latest release ‘24 Light-Years’ from our upcoming album ‘Witness’! This song has a quite intense stack-groove which I think some of you might find interesting. It’s a strong contrast against the soft and open vibe of the song. What makes this groove so special to me is the fact that it’s an idea that I developed a few years ago, and it was turned into a VOLA song afterwards. If you dig deep enough on my socials, you might find an old clip of this specific groove 😇 I hope you’ll enjoy this playthrough! Let me know what you think! Best wishes, Adam Janzi

Brother! The skill! The timing! The absolute energy! I love the way you carry the beat with ghost notes and your dry cymbals make me wanna cry they sound so good! Adam, you’re a freaking genius and make me wanna play the drums better.

This is a Beautiful groove Adam! The way the drums contrast with the very soft beginning makes this special. Love the hi-hats and the ghost notes! So tastefully done! Cheers! Dustin W

man, this is one of the best drumlines for a soft song ive ever heard its absolutely mindblowing and i appreciate the creativity you had to create it and then to even take it. i am in a band too and everybody creates cool stuff but as its usual in a band we dont take every single idea from each member everytime cause it just doesnt work for a song sometimes (wich is totally normal) im just glad that your bandmates felt that groovy drumline for this song too and nobody was like "naah thats a cool drumline! ..but for a differnt song maybe" you know what i mean haha :)

this is such a well written song on drums it's full of stuff, but not busy, it just goes well with the echoing theme of the song, and is so so so groovy. and during the chorus is opens up but hits even harder this song makes me tear up sometimes because of its theme, it's lyrics, but I'll always love it's amazing drums.

Well I guess it depends on where you feel the beat. It feels like 32nd notes within a slow quarter pulse, however, I transcribed it as 16th notes in 4/2 time. :) Really excited to cover this song! Phenomenal writing Mr. Janzi!

Texturing with cymbals and ghost notes is stellar. The groove is evident and intact, and works. It would be busy and inappropriate if AJ countered the riff or was not syncopated....such a strong rhythmic presence...my new favorite metal drummer next to Zev from Spirit Box....this is the new generation of metal...thank you!

So …. Much…… feel I realized what makes the drums pop is the displacement of the snare off of the 3 throughout the beginning and then putting in back on the 3 at the break. It really adds to the break and brings the song together.

The playing deserves the love you are getting, Adam. This song and ruby pool really stood out to me with how masterful your creativity is. However, I just want to say that your cymbal stacks are really creatively made too. Those sound textures are beautifully constructed as well. I have created so many stack combinations and am still trying to find that right sound. I never would have come up with these really clever pairings and masterful use of those trashy effects. Some inspiring stuff for sure!
