yes, he's pretty funny and it's fun to hear different thoughts about different things. But he sees it pretty one-sided. Because he doesn't say how many were saved by the doctors. He doesn't say how many would die from the flu if they didn't have medicine and if they didn't have doctors. And so it's the same with fighting terror. If the terrorists were given a free hand, then there would be more and more people would die. Where he perhaps wanted to go out with his statements. is that one gives the word terror too much attention and thus gives more power.

The point is not to talk negative about doctors but to show the difference between the number of people who die by terrorist attacks and those who die by things that surround us every day. Daily life is much more dangerous than terrorists but people care much more about terrorism. The number of saved people is of no interest in this context.

Doesn't really change anything though, by the time of making that video, and nowadays as well, far more people died in clinics than through terrorists, so it's obvious which problem is more pressing. You can't avoid all deaths through terrorism or Doctors mistakes, but you can avoid a certain percentage. so tackling the problem with the larger number of victims is just the smarter approach. Especially since it's so easy, if memory serves right, about half the deaths of malpractice at the time of making that video were caused by lacking hygene in clinics. Just enforcing the already existing rules a bit better would have saved a lot more people than all the new war on terror measures. Due to Corona things have improved on that front already (at least temporarily), but just by making sure we won't grow to lax again on these standards, we could save milions of lives withing a few decades, that's just a lot more than our anty terror improvements could realistically achive (not that there's a problem with tackling both problems, it's just a fact that one problem is bigger in scale, easier to fix but yet gets less attention).

That's not used in English, it's always called suicide bomber. Mainly for one reason, being that it's quite difficult to kill others while killing yourself without explosives. You could use a gun but then what's the point of shooting yourself just to kick it. If there is a rare case where someone kills themselves with someone else then it's just called a suicide attack. So suicide bombers is definitely the correct translation.

@@witthyhumpleton3514 Maybe. But it doesn't help to get the gist of Pispers' subtle use of language. He is playing with ambiguity of terms and words - as satire/comedy always does. That's why translating satire is always challenging. Smokers commit suicide by poisoning themselves and kill others by exposing them to smoke - no explosives involved. In this passage he's stating that islamistic "suicide bombers" (explosives) and German smokers (no explosives) doing exactly the same by using the term "Selbstmordattentäter" - "Suicide bomber" doesn't reflect this "subtle" difference and eqity at the same time. But exactly the ambiguity of this term provokes laughter.

Man don't get that wrong it's just a horrible joke-killing translation. I would do a better one when I had time, but I don't. So...but maybe I find the time to help you out at times. The problem is though some jokes can't just be translated literally of course but that translater went all nuts with that translation into meaning over words and letters. My English obviously sucks too but I guess I am creative enough to do better. What he meant with the smokers and terrorism is pretty simple and you understood it mostly alright. I am one of these suicide "smokers" to finance the war against terror. But I am a smoker of tastenot of just smoking like many others do. I only smoke now about 8 cigarettes other than back then wen I smoker about 20 to 25 a day. I enjoy it too much as it tastes the way I smoke it. Anyway I'm drifting off. The irony is obvious: if you take the tax money from smoking, a well known material that is causing death. I for myself only smoke when I can enjoy it means when I am alone and everything is nicely and comfy. Others keep walking through the streets etc and basically make people sick and also dieing from cancer etc. But why suicide smokers? Of course be Aude they kill themselves in the first place. And yeah I know that, but it's a thing I decided to accept. Cars which people enjoy way more kill way more people. I don't drive therefore. I do lots of stuff but most of it doesn't kill people but smoking which is. Others don't smoke and drive cars, fly planes and even put on a fire in a forest in order to grill some meat and may cause a whole forest to burn. So who's now the bigger killer? And that's what pispers is screaming about here a bit inside, all that hipocrisy ( is the word I guess) and of course as he said the irony. Long text very short sense therefor: don't judge about others, and foremost: "don't use something that kills people to stop others from killing differently" because thats mad. Especially there is a ongoing course of events that makes smoking more and more expensive and soon unpayable or whatever the word is, while they say they want to make us stop smoking. So he sets of the big question "is it OK for political reasons to use one killer to stop other killers?" just because the one is being somewhat accepted while the other is just a huge fear? And what are the actual numbers? I guess you understand that for sure. If I went over the top with my explanation I am sorry mate. I'm on a rush and not well concentrated to be honest. Cheers
