I'm doing this maintenance this weekend but was iffy about being able to disconnect the bracket that holds the wire harness in place over the drive shaft. Your diy is the second i've seen where they don't disconnect the pump and just leave it hanging. I will try it this way to avoid breaking a tab or possibly snagging the wire on the drive shaft. Does the weight of the pump feel like it might damage the wiring if left hanging from the harness? That's my other issue. I'll still give it a shot.

The O rings are actually two different sizes. Also the fill process is supposed to be done with the car level. You would need to raise the front to achieve this. Having said that, I’m not sure how much more or less fluid would there would be in the unit doing it your way.
@attocoulomb Жыл бұрын
I have seen Haldex part suppliers that say the o-rings are different sizes (by 2mm if I recall correctly). The ones that come from VW in the kit with the bolts seem to both be the same identical size -- about 43.5mm ID, with a 2.5mm cross-section (so 48.5mm OD).

Haldex fluid didn’t look too bad but always good to change it! And it’s good you let the car run a few times to get the pump to circulate all the fluid around. Any issues after doing it? Have you launched it or done pulls after the service?
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
No the fluid looked decent and yes I let it circulate for a decent amount of minutes before moving it. And no I haven’t launched it but the car feels super solid and no spinning in lower gears at 10mph plus .. so all in all no potential headache and success haha
@KPope-pf8ph9 ай бұрын
You state in this video that you will "provide a link to FCP Euro down below"... I have thoroughly searched and did not find the link for the kit. Why? You clearly provide a service to help others. So, why not provide the link to get the parts???

@RazorsEdg3Ай бұрын
Your car wasn't level. You need to drain and fill with all four wheels off ground making sure vehicle is level. Also making sure you use right torque settings for pump bolts and drain plugs.
@suewilton97112 жыл бұрын
Do you put the fill plug in when you need to circulate the fluid??
@DArias2 жыл бұрын
You can if you want to be safe. You don’t need to fully tighten though. Just hand tighten

What generation Haldex is this? I have an A3 2006 with gen.2 Haldex. Is the servicing the same?
@chrisstokes5375 Жыл бұрын
This was gen 5. It is supposed to be a lifetime item. Dealerships just change the fluid at services then charge for a new pump when it fails. Better to do it yourself and clean the filter. Much cheaper. Gen 4 definitely has a replaceable filter so I imagine earlier systems will.

@hitmancontracts Жыл бұрын
Wait a second, both o-rings on the pump are the same size? I believe they are not the same size. The top one (closest to the tip of the pump) is smaller then the one that goes in the middle of the pump. This information is from either humble mechanic’s channel or deutch auto who are both huge with vw/audi stuff.
@DArias Жыл бұрын
They are the same size o ring both have the same part number. Charles in his video doesn’t change his o rings either as the dealer didn’t have them in the stock. Also Paul in his video doesn’t mention anything on the o rings either

Never ever put clothes with the sulphur-smelling oil (gearbox, haldex, differential) in your washing machine. The smell will stick there and never ever go away.
@Mickhunt2 жыл бұрын
This is the gen 5 haldex what I can see is just the gen 4 does have a separate filter But is just as simple Also if you do have a haldex system failure when you take the back seat out there are 2 plastic rings one on each side under one mine was on the left,that’s sat in the car, on top of the tank there is a plug, the wires for some reason can break I’ve had 2 now simple fix and can save you thousands Mickhunt UK

It doesn't say roughly what year this is for. Is this exactly the same procedure for a 2002 Audi TT?

i did a half service lol. i wasnt able to reach one of the bolts on the pump. i didnt have the proper extension . prob should do it again after a year.
@DArias3 жыл бұрын
That’s not an issue tbh.. as long as you had no grinding sounds and no kind of sparkly shavings in the fluid you should be okay. Hell I’ve heard some dealers do the “full” service without doing the pump and filter etc.. I think you’ll be good! That too screw is super tricky to get

Is your car lowered on springs? From the video looks like you barely have the car lifted up high. Was wondering how high I'd need to get my lowered Golf R to reach the Haldex pump and do the service. TY
@DArias2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, so in this video my car was not lowered yet so I had enough room to get it done. If you’re low you’ll most likely need to lift it up more on some good Jack stands
@DArias2 жыл бұрын
If you’re a smaller guy you should be able to get by as well though. Took off my cat back on ramps to install my rear sway bar and even though I’m lowered now I’d be able to do the Haldex service still because I’m small enough haha
@entrrt2 жыл бұрын
@@DArias Also they're recommending I change the front diff fluid too. That something you'd recommend as well when doing the haldex service? TY

Do you need to lower the car off the stands when you run it?

Not necessarily as the pump circulates the system when the car is running. Once you check true level 2nd time around fill till it starts dripping out the plug area

The filter, the filter, the filter. If there is no filter for 90$, its expensive ! In Europe, oil, bolt, an filter for same price !
@attocoulomb Жыл бұрын
Haldex Gen 5 does not have a filter, just the pump screen that he showed. That o-ring kit from VW costs in the range of $50 (or source your own for $5), the fluid is now $46, the bolts a few dollars.
