I'm surprised the Haldex system is so prone to sludge after a very short time. Something is badly designed in there to cause that. And a worn commutator on a simple electric motor after such a short time also smacks of spare part repeat sales design. I never new that Haldex was in the same category as Lucas electrics.........

The haldex control unit was replaced under warranty as there are several communication faults present, but this didn’t fix the problem. Myself and the master tech suspect wiring from the haldex control unit to the rest of the car is damaged thus creating a lack of values which the haldex needs to know how to operate. Is there a business number I can reach you on, or an email? I’d love to speak with you in a little more depth, you’re very local to me too but I’ve noticed your business is down as “temporarily closed” on google. Please reach out if you see this!

Been having Haldex traction issues on my STock 2016 A3, dealer first replaced the Haldex pump, said it “works fine” after the pump replacement, it barely improved when I drove it, still lots of wheel spin and traction control light flashes constantly from dig, starting to think maybe they did not re learn the pump when installing however it was a procedure for a TSB so you would think they know to do that hey? Now back to the dealer and they found another code C111307 awd malfunction, and they said the clutch needs to be replaced since it is slipping when they lifted the car and tested the wheels spinning. They ordered a clutch which they said was near $4000 CAD, All covered under warranty fortunately, but my warranty ends in 1 week lol. So I sure damn hope that fixes it. They said my rear diff is fine, and I don’t believe I have symptoms of a failing rear diff, What would you recommend me to look for if the clutch doesn’t fix it? Great video as well.
@volkswizard4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tenzin, The fact the dealer said it "works fine" yet it clearly didn't doesn't give me much faith in them. That C111307 is specifically listed on the Gen 5 page on the haldexrepairs.co.uk website as being caused by "typically blocked pump, clean out and relearn or defective transfer box" So it doesn't look like what they are going to do will fix it. Do you know anyone with VCDS? www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/generation-5-haldex-fault-finding-repair-guide/
@thekid65244 жыл бұрын
@volkswizard Thanks for replying! Yeah, it was two different dealerships that I had went to, yeah it is puzzling why they would give me a new clutch that is 4 grand, when they can possibly solve the issue for much cheaper. Guess they have no clue about the haldex system. We will have to see if the new clutch will fix the issue, but now I am having doubts. I do have access to a VCDS scanner at multiple audi specialist shops. What should I look for when scanning?
@thekid65244 жыл бұрын
@@volkswizard Hey volkswizard, so the car seems to be all fixed up now, with no traction control issues what so ever during acceleration! :) AD replaced the clutch, and tested the control module, module seemed to be Ok. CPO warranty ends in 4 days so I was very lucky. I believe the clutch failed due to the clogged pump not functioning properly for an extended period of time, causing no clamping force on the clutch when needed and lack of fluid, resulting in a slipping clutch which becomes fried eventually. Issue could have been resolved if I had fixed the clogged pump early enough I believe, but I did not experience TC issues until winter time, as I do not drive the car hard during summer. This is what AD stated at least.

Interesting video - I'm guessing that changing the pump isn't part of the VW service schedule? My R only has about 1700 miles on the clock, but if I keep it after the PCP term ends & I do that mileage, I'll definitely change the pump, along with the oil. Is it also a time thing too? I've a funny feeling that VW schedule the Haldex oil change for 4 years OR 40,000 miles (whichever is first)? Worth doing on a 4 yr old R with less than 40k on the clock? Great information, really useful to know that

I can't see an issue with that Steve, it's not like the oil is lubricating bearings. The only thing to consider is that the pump pre-charges so it's constantly working just in case it's called upon to engage the back wheels (that why it's so much more responsive than the original Haldex)

I took my Cupra to JCT600 Seat to get the Halden fluid changed. Afew weeks later this fault code came up differential lock and it would not go away. So it went back to a different JCT600 Seat and they found it to be a broke axle lock. Seat themselves even said that this part should not fail and had to order it from Spain because no where in UK had it in stock. The car was out of warranty but I argued good will gesture and after 5 weeks they accepted and fixed my car.
