If you don,t want to have problems with the rear hose clamp, you can engalrge it with that tool and put it up on the air filter box. There are 3 plastic bumps there and it will keep it safe and mentin the distance to use the tool again. I had the same problem as you on my first air filter change and discovered that method. I change my filter every 10k km. If you put a new one, side by side with a 10k km one, you will understand.

Than you soo much my friend! I have been searching a lot for this ! Same engine on my vw T-CROSS 95 hp 2019 DKLA ( you can put it in the description) - such a bad design and that screw in the middle to be sure no one succed in dissasemble it 🤦🏻‍♂️😒 i am from romania did not know the box is made here :))) service manual recommends different steps as you did in your video but there is very weird what they say there. First turbo hose than the screw (doing like this can damage the screw mount from my point of view) your steps are better

Note: This tutorial is also useful for Taigun, Kushaq, Virtus, Slavia, Vento, Rapid all having an EA211 1.0 TSI. From the moment I laid my eyes on this tiny 1.0 TSI engine, I just knew they had over engineered this service and made it super complicated for a quick Air Filter cleaning, compared to the previous EA111 1.2TSI we had. What it implies is that each service will imply more interactions with plastic hoses with weaken over time! Totally a waste of a technicians time. Nevertheless, was a job well done and I had lots of fun in the process! Watch till the end for a small roar from the baby TSI Engine!

They engineered to be changed every 60 000km. But after you discover how to change it, it will be very fast. I change mine in 10 minutes maximum.

@@SHT5029 Yeah you're right friend. I'm sure I can do it within 15 minutes now, but our dusty environments in India call for super frequent Air Filter cleaning and replacement intervals. The previous Air Filter Replacement on the older TSI engines they sold here was a child's play. The technicians here are not the most careful with our cars and that adds to the worries. Hope you understand my sentiment! :)

Hey, I tried this today on my Skoda Rapid TSI and I took it easy with the pliers. I used the electrical pliers and gotcha was stuck with the rear hose clip not been able to compress. LoL ! This rendered my car useless. I immediately went to the market to get a similar one that you used. They call it Parrot Plier here. And even then it was a pain in the ass to get it right. What a nonsense design to the basic stuff like air filter.

Hi Sujoy, thank you for posting this DIY video, very good job indeed. My only suggestion is to wear a pair of safety gloves while working on the engine bay. I appreciate the fact that you even mentioned the torque tightening specs for the Torx screws on the air filter housing (the only time I pay attention is the toque specs on the oil drain plug & oil filter cap housing). I'm actually perplexed that VW folks have made this otherwise simple job so unnecessarily complex. I have a 5 series BMW (535i) and it takes me all of 10 minutes to change the air filter. I'm considering Polo Highline Plus for my parents who live back in India. I was researching about the oil filter for this particular engine and the Mann website says that W712/95 (GTIN code - 4011558036010) should be a perfect fit. Can you please confirm which oil filter did your car come with. Thanks.
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I do wear gloves while working, but quite often end up taking one off for handling cameras between shots. Thanks for the good wishes. Yes, the Air Filter box torque can only be realised using an Electronic Factory Level Screwdriver. As per ETKA, the DSHA engine (1.0 TSI for Polo Vento) has oil filter with part no 04E115561H. It retails for Rs. 99 (Genuine Volkswagen). Mann W712/95 is indeed an equivalent one.

Thank you for the quick response Sujoy; really appreciate it. Looking forward to your next DIY video. I have not really kept up with the Indian car market but upon my initial research, VW Polo seemed to be the only sensible choice. My only concern is that there is just one dealership in Himachal & my parents are located 4 hours from it but in light of the fact that the service interval is one year/15,000 kms, it should not be an issue. I can take care of oil/air filter change myself as I do visit once a year. Good luck!

@@vikramarya34 I love responding to comments. Makes me happy. Sure, you'll need just one Special Socket to undo the oil filter. The sump plug should be a 19mm, but will verify it soon! Any idea what that open pipe is called? 7:10 Thanks

@SujoyShivde 2 ай бұрын
Glad you found the video useful. I kept a cloth to prevent anything from falling into the turbo inlet. The hose clamp should securely clamp the air filter box into the bottom part which is the turbo inlet. There should be no gap there. If you see a gap, please get a mechanic to remove the hose clamp, and re-fit it onto the turbo inlet, so that the two parts are securely mounted.

@SujoyShivde Жыл бұрын
Hi, these EA211 1.0 engines could be used with two kind of oils. 5W-40 or 0W-20. Both oils have their own benefits. 5W-40 oils will be smoother while efficiency has been a little lesser compared to the 0W-20. There any many good 5W-40 oils meetings VW 502, the minimal approval which VW recommends. If your car is in warranty, you'll have to listen to your dealer. If you service it outside, there are many good engine oil options. Try and find an oil that meets VW 502 approval if 5W-40 or find the 0W-20 VW oil that meets VW 508

Hey Sujoy! Thanks for a great tutorial video mate. I am concerned about carbon deposits on my Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI , as it being a GDI engine is surely gonna develop those over time. Even the owners manual does not mention any preventive measure for that. Can you please enlighten me how can i take care of it and what would need to be done if the car does develop carbon deposits on the valve? Regards
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the small tutorial. Carbon is an inevitable phenomena in any petroleum powered vehicle, and yes it does build up over time. However, most modern cars are designed with electronic systems which sense restriction in airflow, and make changes to optimise output power during the cylinder power cycle. Not just the owners manual but even the service manual does not mention any steps or preventative maintenance which need to done in the event of carbon buildup on valves. So I believe, the manufacturer doesn't expect that we proactively do anything for carbon buildup. Some amount of carbon is definitely not harmful, and becomes a part of the engine block, while most other sludge and soot will get taken out during regular oil changes. Carbon deposits might be more detrimental to the TSI fuel injection systems than the intake and exhaust valves in the engine head, and so as a minimum, using good fuel and the occasional TSI additive in the tank would be a good step to solve that issue. I'd say, regularly enjoy your car, revv it when you find the space and a good stretch of road, service it on time and don't worry too much!

I had found a bulletin from VW Global which says DSHA engine (1.0 TSI) will use 0W-20 with effect 2021. This bulletin usually takes a few months or even a year to reach VW India. If the oil was 0W-20, the new VW spec would be VW508. The manual states VW 502, which is met by 5W-40 and most dealers at present are using this oil only. It's made by Shell India and is sold to VW as VW Special G (Petrol). Only time will tell if 5W-40 or 0W-20 is a more appropriate recommendation by VW India, but till then, it's safe to stick to the dealer recommendation.

Thanks. I have changed the Air channel to Euro spec along with a tune. Being a manual car, frequent downshifts are required having the taller gear ratios during hill climbs. I have stiffened the suspension, threw in lightweight alloys with good grippy tyres. But still, the low-end torque isn't just there in this baby TSI engine. Would it be better to go with an Air filter or a turbo inlet or a complete intake setup like the 1.5/1.6 TDI to improve it further? Any suggestions would be helpful.

@@doczilla1023 Yeah lower end torque is low, hope you use 95Octane fuel, if not try it, here in India I feel lot of difference in lower end torque between regular 91Octane fuel and premium 95octane fuel.

HI Sujoy, I'm planning to install BMC Air Filters(Stock Replacement). I would like to get the Euro Spec Air intake channel for my 1.0 TSI 2021 Model. What is your suggestion ? Where can I source it as the model is not listed in Boodmo. Please assist.

Hi, the Air Intake guide part number is the exact same as the 1.2 TSI one which was freely available on Boodmo. I have installed the same. Let me know if you found it, else I will help you with the link.

Sir the Polo is a good, yet an old car. If I were to consider it, I'd have considered it for the newer generation 1.0 TSI engine. It's really powerful and won't disappoint you or make you feel wanting for power. The 1.0 MPI is fine for city commutes, should be fairly efficient as well, but it's not a special engine on what is already an old car. Polo as a vehicle doesn't compare to an i10 or Baleno when it comes to value for money today since it's smaller, little cramped in the rear and more expensive to maintain. But Polo excels in safety and stability, making it a great choice as well. I'd suggest trying the TSI engine and trying to find a great deal on it. Baleno and i10 are good choices for the city, but don't compare in safety.

Hey Sujoy, nice video. I would appreciate your inputs on the 2 points :) I have a 2015 1.2 MPI POLO. 1. Since my last Service Jan2020, I have driven only 4K KMS so far. Do I need to have it serviced after 1 year even if it has run only 4K kms ? 2. Which mechanic / shop would you suggest for polo in Pune ? I don’t like the authorised service center. Appreciate your help :)
@SujoyShivde

Where did you last service it? Depending on what type of oil you used, you may be able to continue driving on the older engine oil. If it full synthetic, they have a higher tolerance to standing. Which aspect about the Authorized Service center did you not like? Is it the pricing or the overall atmosphere there? I can recommend a few places accordingly.

@@SujoyShivde thans for the revert. I did the previous servicing at Shivaji Nagar VW Servië center. What I didn’t like is that they charged around 15k and didn’t do much. I know Vw servicing charges are high but 15k for no damaged parts was a shocker. Also they didn’t fix the rattle noise issue in my car. I did some fixing after reading some threads in TBHP myself .

The fuel filter for TSI engines should be at the bottom of the car, towards the rear of the car.

Are you searching it for the same engine? It should be near the fuel tank, along the vehicle side rail. You can see it if you jack the rear wheels. Not sure which side, will try and share an illustration

Nothing like that to be honest, just trying to make content on the vehicles we have. I also enjoy servicing and making content on Hyundai's, Suzukis and other vehicles which come my way.. But I guess Volkswagen will always hold a special place in my heart. Still have dad's old Jetta, 12 years old, but still drives like a dream. I believe the fact that there's so much to read, upgrade and learn from VWs because of the sheer number of VW car globally is inspiring and perhaps help with a positive with a positive bias towards the brand.
