You are the man! I watched two other pan replacement videos before yours and nobody even checked the hole locations. The holes lining up when I’m finished is my biggest fear. Thank you so much for making this video

Great tip, haven't done one yet, but got two VW needing all or one pan. Hole alignment is a big factor. I've watched a bunch trying to prepare for this work. Thanks

I will be replacing a 73' pan soon. I measured all the holes but your tip of just marking the tunnel with the distance is great. I also saw one guy who drilled holes in the new pan edge so he could "spot" weld the new pan in. Seems to be more of an OEM style of welding it in. Think I will try it.

Thanks for the comment. The pan hole measurement is the best I’ve tried. Make sure to use something that doesn’t wipe off easily. Yes the holes in the edge for the tunnel works best. No need to weld the whole thing. Spend a little extra and get a quality seam sealer and make sure you get top and bottom of pan good. Bug out!!!

Jbugs has a "how to" vid on pan replacement, it shows you how to take the measurements also. It's a REALLY good idea to do it!
@lamardixon44852 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-ot4ww thanks for the comment!! It like carpenter work, measure twice cut once. Before the pans, or what maybe left of the pans, come out you must measure. If you only do a couple do the second hole from the front and then the second from the back. Make your tick marks, you GOT TO HAVE TICK MARKS for any of this to work. Write it on paper but you have the tick marks to reference to when the new one go back in. You don’t want a crooked pan. Bug out!! Thanks

Hey man, I suppose I replyed in another vid but i would like to thank you from the bottom ofvmy heart for your short, to-the point vid on floor pans. I tore my knee apart and had a 6 month recovery and still couldn't do much after for months. I put the pans on my wifes 181/thing before but never put the body back on till a few weeks ago. Wanted to tell you it fit perfectly! I was scared to death something unforseen woupd happen and id have to get the body back up and tear the pans out! But your instruction was 100% perfect. Thank you sooo much. It turned out to be a stunning vw thing that the whole neighborhood breaks their necks to look at! Do you ever go to vw shows in TN by chance? Would love to get a chance to meet you. Ive got 3 more vw bug to do this to and now im confident because of you. Thanks again

You’re welcome! I’m glad some little information that I have would help others along on rebuilding/repairing their vw. Yes, there is always some little “something” that seem to go wrong. I’m glad it went good for you. I’ve been going to bugaplooza for years, and I do go to circle your wagons from time to time. Look for the ole black bug and hit me up. Thanks for the comment! Bug out!🤙

It's too bad vw didn't make the floors stronger. I have had about 40 cars/trucks in my life and only my bugs need floor work. Great video btw!

@@lamardixon4485 do they make a heater channel that is not a heater channel one that is just the section so I could bolt it up and not use the heat or is this the only style they make
@lamardixon44852 жыл бұрын
I think I’ve seen that before but I don’t think they are any cheaper. You can always plug them off if you don’t want to run heat.

I just bought a 71 Super Beetle. It's going to need the floor pans replaced. How much would you charge if the body is off the frame? Thanks.

Do the pans just like in the video. Make sure you measure and square before you cut the old pans out, this is a must. Deal with one thing at a time, worry about the heater channels later. Don’t do them at the same time. Thanks for you comments! Make sure to subscribe
