The two legends. I've watched this a dozen times at least. Will watch as many again. The screaming Harimoto should watch as well to learn what a respectful behavior looks like.

It seems that big players are definitely advantageous against defensive players. However, when playing against a defender, it is more important than the ability to overcome a backspin ball without a mistake rather than a speed. In that respect, Samsonov, Oh Sang-eun, Wang li-qin, the heavy but slow ball of the defender is easy to handle.
@kaizhangtabletennis11 жыл бұрын
That was twiddling, and he did it so smoothly.

Amazing match up. Watching Samsonov try to outmaneuver Joo Se Wall Hyuk was a blast. Good at finding the cracks, but not enough power to get past Joo's defense, Samsonov had to improvise a bit, it seemed, though not as much as Joo had to adapt. The switch from defense and those classic chops to quick, aggresive counter shots was beautiful, and surely would have got him the match if he had done it a little sooner. Great match over all. Nice to see something that isn't quite as high octane as other match ups, but still gripping and dynamic throughout.

Confused with the scoring at 0:31 7-6 Joo. Then Samsonov makes a point... then the next screen the score is 9-6???
@pudi58587 жыл бұрын
its a highlights video so it skips some shorter/less interesting rallies
@shogrran7 жыл бұрын
pudi5858 i know it skips shorter rallies. But that's a point for joo and 7-6 should be 7-7 but it went 9-6 instead. They awarded the point to samsonov with what looked like a point for joo I wanted to know what happened. Did the ball hit his short or joo moved the table?
@pudi58587 жыл бұрын
oh youre right sorry, i think they messed up the scoring overlay for the tv since it also switches a little later in the set
@CrazyHynter7 жыл бұрын
The score becomes 9-6 For Joo, and the point should've been awarded to Samsonov. So the actual result would've been 9-7 after that, I don't know why they gave the point to Joo though.

Interesting - Joo has got quite dynamic topspin! Each time he decides to strike Samsonov loses. I don't understang why has Joo decided to be defensive player.
@percevalzinzin598311 ай бұрын
I believe he attacks on opportunity so he succeeds much more than an attacker who attacks by instinct and has a lower success rate.

lol Samsonov at 4:48 "hey Joo Se Hyuk is not supposed to smash my serve, he is a chopper." Also 3:34 WOW Samsonov caught Joo Se Hyuk's smash with his left hand and just calmly returns the ball.

Samsonov 4 X 2 Joo Se Hyuk But 80% of the points that are showed on the video were made by the defensive player. That's nonsense. Terrible edition
@theishaan312 жыл бұрын
@shubhamthehumble joo se hyuk sucks as he is a defensive player and can be easily defeated by taking him far from the table and then giving him a drop shot. thats why Samsonov won the match.
@wasdwasdedsf5 жыл бұрын
uhhhh
@amasoftyou8 жыл бұрын
it is a good defense and attacking play by joo but somehow its really tiring to watch and the fun just at the beginning. that kind of play look smart but actually it is a disgrace of pingpong, lame play, and thats why smart and excellent players (ma long, zhang ji ke, timo ball, vladimir, fang, and etc) do not play like that. how ever great show by vladimir considering his age :)
@riujithetechnician8 жыл бұрын
I dont think "disgrace" and "lame" are the right words for his style, the only disgrace I see is when someone plays defensive style is when someone fails to return those backspin heavy chops. Playing table tennis differently from the conventional style does not mean he's a disgrace, he is just unique plain and simple
@thenewfire6 жыл бұрын
Disgrace? Is that why over half those people you named have never been in a world championship final and Joo has? The real disgrace is the ittf changing the ball AGAIN to cripple defenders.
