I just had mine completely rebuilt. Bored to 83mm added IE rods, pistions and springs. Ferrea valves, mhale bearings, ARP bolts, etc. I'm tapping 28 psi and runing around 24 psi consistently. The thing is a rocket ship, so much fun. I need to upgrade LPFP, HPFP injectors and turbo to get the most out of it though. My little K04 is doing big boy numbers 😂

I am a beginner. What does having an engine "bored" to do for it? And what does bored in engine terminology mean?
@NuffxSaid5 ай бұрын
@stocks4bt having engine cylinders bored out is having the insdie diameter of the cylinders made to be slightly bigger, so you can fit bigger pistons. Takes a highly trained specialist to complete. The machinist that built mine has been rebuilding VW, Audi and BMW engines for 30 years.

@@NuffxSaidhow much hp and torque do you get after cylinder boring and before everything else ?
@NuffxSaid3 ай бұрын
@deweew haven't run it on dyno yet to be 100% sure. However, the PSI I am pushing calculates to about 450-470hp/26-28psi on hard pulls. 24-25 psi on regular driving. Stock hp 220, stock psi of 12, +10% psi per 1 pound of boost maths to 450-470hp base on psi output. At least, that's how my mechanic broke it down. That's without upgrading the fueling system still on stock pumps and injectors. If I add those, I'll have to go bigger turbo. Which will push me close if not over 600hp. The motor is built to handle 700hp. I still need to get my suspension fully built out before even thinking about that. I would also need to go stage 3 brakes. Car is basically stage 2.5 if that were a thing 🤣

This engine is used in so many Audi's and VW's. It is reliable until approximately70,000 miles. Then you must replace intake manifold, off valve, coil,spark plugs,and diverter valve. At 100,000 you must replace the timing chain,tensioner, all associated chain guides, and timing chain covers it gets distorted when removing for service and leaks. As most German engines you are constantly chasing oil leaks.

I have this engine and change the oil every 10k kilometers, and use the best gas available. The oil change is very important best to change the oil after 10k kilometers guys if you want to have this engine for long. If you do the maintenance right it is actually pretty reliable
@therues70716 ай бұрын
@@Truegp25 How many miles do you have on it? I have a MK8 GTI with 19K miles and change my oil every 5K miles. just curious on your milage. I think these engines are very reliable if you take care of them.
@jims.39875 ай бұрын
That is not true, if you are a moron and you follow the 15k oil change intervals so the manufacturer can meet "carbon emissions whatever" maybe that is so. My Gen 3 888 has 105k miles and the only thing I HAD to replace was the injector wiring harness that had a recall, and I decided to change the injectors and water pump while I had it apart. I put the original intake and intake gasket back on because it was fine. I cleaned the flaps and it works like it should. It does not leak or burn any oil either. It's a better engine than you'll get in any American car companies car, and my Volkswagen was manufactured in Tennesse not Mexico.
