@@Kkkk-iw7ptwould you buy iphone and use it for phone calls and messages only. Yes that's what it's made for but it can do much more than that. You don't buy iPhone just for calls and messages. Same with hybrid. You have option to drive everyday on electricity, or both petrol and electric, and you never charge it and use only petrol engine. He could buy just normal petrol and he would save a lot of money. You should charge it every night so you save money on petrol, that's what this car is made for.

I have the pre face lift GTE and my long term mpg is around 90mpg but this is plugging it in at every opportunity and traveling to work on all electric. We travel to see family once every 2-3 weeks around a 280 mile round trip. To get anywhere near the 160+ quoted by VW would mean almost never using the petrol engine which is unrealistic. I think around 100mpg is achievable for most people who don't have to do long trips too often and plug in frequently
@powerletsproperties39255 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. It will 100%depends and what do younuse the car for. I have a 65 plate, 73000mls, returning 90-100mpg, last time I have filled the tank 1st of April and still a fifth available. I commute to work (18mls round trip) and charge it almost every night. Its the perfect car for town( I live in London and work in central London) but it's not a car for long trips, live in a village, having a dog or even 2 kids. Lacks of space and if you are using almost always the petrol engine why do you buy a plugin hybrid in the first place? plebty of SUV even from volkswagen around.

That hybrid battery in plugins is 5x more than the one in corolla or prius. Unknown reliability, known fragile engine, but more power than 2.0 L corolla. I would like to rent it but will never buy it. Typical Toyota hybrid battery less about 12-15 years and only cost €2350 installed. And we know it's proven 4 th generation. 1.4 TSI, DSG, are all dreading failure prone system

Also pre set the charge time on the infortainment display for night charging at a cheaper rate. 40p I'm paying at night. @DDDprinting3 жыл бұрын
What problems?
@markkofi85223 жыл бұрын
@@DDDprinting Hi Pal, the issues seem to be caused by a non vw battery. Halfords changed the 12v battery but they don't have the necessary software to clear all the error codes that come up after the change. So a short time after the Halfords battery was installed the car just wouldn't move. I had errors from Engine management, front assist and clutch failure. I had to have the car recovered to my local VW dealer to change the battery and recode the engine. It spent 4 days with the dealer before being returned to me. After two days I had the same problem again. So the went back at the dealership. On a separate note, the estimated 30 miles, on electric only, is rubbish. In normal driving mode you'll get around 18/20. During the winter months, turning on your heater will take 5 miles straight off the range. These cars are VW's first forays into hybrid world, so I guess teething problems are expected.

Car is a little bit of a fraud in my opinion. I have one and real world driving doesn't give you anything close to 30 electric miles. Around 21 miles, to be precise. In fact I never get more than 27 miles on the clock, despite all day charging. Had a few issues with the gear box but they've been solved now.

@paulloper83335 жыл бұрын
Hahah they fucked you guys over, waste gate stays open, either the actuator or the filler sensor went. Actuator costs 130 Euros and the sensor approx 30 Euros. However, at the dealer they just swap the whole manifold with the turbo and the actuator and the filler sensors.
@letsflywiththemusic4 жыл бұрын
I have had a Mk6 1.4TSI for 10 years, have had this problem twice with the turbo related issue (no/intermittent boost). Replacing the turbo cartridge fixes it, not fiddling with the actuator, manifold or anything like that. Takes about 2 hours to swap the cartridge and about £150 for the cartridge itself, easy. Still unacceptable failure though.
