Nice but i have a question the 16 valve cylinder head work with 8 valve pistons?
@MysteryGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes, however you will end up with quite low compression, perfect for boost 👌 Thanks for watching!!

That GTI kuhler flange wont go on the ABA block. You need a sandwich adapter Wahler like from a 240 volvo

What carbs are you going to use? The Weber dual carbs? Or the individual carbs from a litter bike? I will get the Weber dual carbs for my set up, I saw in the bbm, but they cost around $1500, 😭
@MysteryGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes I’ll be using dual Webber 45s, can’t wait!! Coming soon!

@@MysteryGarage just wondering if you know anyone is educated in tuning old sds em4 standalone system ? Thanks
@damianp.4274 жыл бұрын
great video, wish that this video was made few months back when i was building my 9a block with 83mm pistons and jh 42mm/35mm big valve head. let me tell you the power of that 2.1 is almost doubled. now im wondering if i can use my spare 1.8l PL block with custom pistons with 16 valve head from 9a and put carbs. Do you know the diff between jh block and pl block? i believe pl block came from mk2 gti. thanks for ur help. and good luck with your build.
@MysteryGarage4 жыл бұрын
You could put a 16v head on a 1.8 block absolutely, however 8v heads have much smaller chambers. Thus swapping a 16v head on a 1.8 block with yield some very low compression... in the area of 7.5:1 maybe 7:1... impossible for na but great for high boost.

Thank you for taking the mystery out of the shortblock details for this swap! Are you choosing the carb setup just for visual simplicity? Or is it for tuning as well? I have never tuned a set of webers so I am wondering how difficult this is. Will you be tuning with a wideband?
@MysteryGarage4 жыл бұрын
Oh so many reasons... visual simplicity, engine bay simplicity, looks, SOUND! I’ve always, always wanted carbs so now it’s time to make that happen! I’ll learn as I go...
@ecarasig4 жыл бұрын
@@MysteryGarage Ahhh ok agreed on all those reasons! I will be watching you to learn carb tuning on webers! Thanks always for engaging with me on your videos!

Is there a preferred year ABA? OBD1 vs OBD2.

Not particularly just because none of those parts would be used in this application! Hope that helps, thanks for watching i really appreciate it!! Cheers
