I’m definitely a VW fan so perhaps biased but I think the same wheel as a Polo means the Polo has an upmarket one rather than the Touareg having a downmarket one. That is something testers of Polos have said, too. And the key? Personally the smaller and more discreet the better! Can’t stand big showy keys. If that’s all there is they’re small gripes, really.

I wish Volkswagen would make a proper full-size SUV to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser (not the Prado, the full-size Land Cruiser). I feel lie Audi is also missing one, but I guess Volkswagen are prioritising the European market. Still a bit annoying, though.
@atlanticboulevard
@atlanticboulevard 5 жыл бұрын
@Antonio Zamudio the Atlas is still midsize, and Is only sold in America (it's their replacement for the Touareg, as it was too premium to be a Volkswagen in the American market). The Atlas competes with the mid-size Toyota Highlander and Mazda CX-9, not with the full-size Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Toyota Land Cruiser (known as the Land Cruiser V8 in Europe, not sold at all in the UK anymore as far as I'm concerned). I was commenting on how the Volkswagen Group need a full-size SUV, and not the Volkswagen brand specifically. For example, Audi needs a full-size SUV to compete with the Merc GLS and BMW X7, and Bentley really need to make a full-size SUV if they want to compete with the Rolls Royce Cullinan directly. Volkswagen still don't make a full-size SUV platform, which would be really useful in the American market and also in Europe as well.
@atlanticboulevard
@atlanticboulevard 5 жыл бұрын
@Antonio Zamudio It's not full-size. The Toyota Camry has roughly the same amount of rear legroom as the standard Mercedes S-Class. That does not make the Camry a full size sedan. The atlas is not a full-size SUV. It does not compete with full-size SUVs. And that's not the problem. The problem is that none of the brands owned by Volkswagen make full-size SUVs, and it's a gap in their range that has annoyed me for a while. The Atlas isn't sold outside of America, anyway, and there are larger competitors.
@atlanticboulevard

There are way too many SUVs on the market, and Diesel should go, ist far more damaging than we can imagine. Apart from that, I must say that is is a very good looking SUV - Clean and clear lines, does not try to hard and simply comes out very well sorted for the exterior profile. Perhaps the Grill is a bit over the top a very wide grin, but it is somehow still maintained. The Current VW DNA fits the SUV segment better than many other competing brands also within the groups own subbrands

This car should have started at €30k, not €50k. Also, less electrics would be helpful, since they’ll last longer in time. Not everybody wants giant screens all over the place, and a lot of functions operated electrically (since we all know they break down over time and cost a fortune to repair).

30k Euro is way too cheap. That is the price of a mid spec Golf. Tiguan starts from 33K. 50k Euro would have been fine given even an Audi Q5 starts above 60 grand here. The Touareg starts from 79 K euro here in the Netherlands. The Q7 starts from 87 K. Which is also way too expensive IMO. But you get some of the best tech and driving experiences so whatever. Pay premium for actual premium. Not half arsed premium. Charging 79 grand for a Touareg is madness though. What is VW thinking.... Better off getting a Q5, X3 or XC90 tbh. I usually like what you get for the price at VW but this is awful. As on the electronics part... I love to have decently big screens on cars. Especially instead of Analog dials (e.g. Active Info Display or Audi Virtual Cockpit). 8-11 inch for infotainment is more than enough. But at least give us actual buttons for climate control. Touch based climate, even if separate like in the newer Audis, is never a good idea. It looks cool but that is about it. I do think that cars should start about a few hundred bucks cheaper, but with digital cluster as a 200-500 euro option. Separate, not part of like 2.5 grand option pack. This way people can choose. Just like in the Golf or Polo.
@sergiupuscasu2496
@sergiupuscasu2496 5 жыл бұрын
CyAn I also love the screens and electronics, but at around 100k kilometers, the car will start to have major problems (at least the old one). My former tennis coach’s 2008 Touareg broke down completely at 120k km.
@CyAn-S
@CyAn-S 5 жыл бұрын
@@sergiupuscasu2496 Was that because of engine problems or electronics? And yes I hear a lot from people that own VWs from late '00 to beginning of '10 that they have unreliable engines. I don't know about the newer ones. They might be a lot better. Even then satisfaction % was still above 90% in 2018 surveys of all VW models. So idk if that one faulty Touareg is a benchmark. It still is inexcusable that such an expensive car breaks down at 120 km though. Not defending that at all. Reference: www.whatcar.com/news/2018-what-car-reliability-survey/n17824
