Very well done review, plus i would add a few things, for potential buyers: I own a 60 hp 5 doors manual mirrors and A/C for 6 years now, 2013 made. Pros: i do about 6.5 L/100 km in city drive and around 5L/100 km highway mode driving 125/130 km/h Cheap parts, if you drive it well and take care of it, the parts hold quite long between replacement. For me 1.74 m tall, i have plenty of space as a driver and also remains more than decent space behind driver's seat. Back seats fold flat and have transoorted quite a lot of things, very practical. Did a trip of 6500 km out and return from Romania to South of France, car ran like a swiss clock, no issues at all. Fun and easy to drive, easy parking. Cons: one frustrating thing is that there is some water ingress after washing the car and could not find the entering point but after some research, i found that this happened with brand new cars also....so i gave up fixing it Besides that....i cannot complain of anything else.

I recently bought the Up gti and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a small car it’s brilliant and one I’ll definitely be keeping.

Now pretty much no longer available spoke to a dealer last week. Hope the replacement won’t be electric only though. Still I think small petrol engines is the way forward.

Good thorough review. Thumbs up for all the useful information. Was surprised at the lack of features in the entry level variants. Ultimately, the small warranty says much about expected long term reliability. Moreover having to pay extra so the vehicle pollutes less, you'd think VW would have learned a lesson or two about excessive pollution by now?
