Great video man .One thing i would say is it really is essential to remove and clean or replace the filter as it can get clogged up over time and cause the haldex to fail
@christophermcnamara24372 жыл бұрын
Generation V Haldex system fitted to these cars, has no true filter for the oil - just a strainer. In my experience, it clogs up quickly & benefits from a strip & clean. The pump itself has a commutator & brushes, which again benefit from a clean out - its very easy to do & worth the minimal extra effort when changing the oil there are jus 2 fasteners to remove for the pump & an O ring seal which is usually fine to go back in unless you are rough when extracting the pump. O ring is cheap & readily available

I have a giant syringe with a fuel pipe for such jobs. After each use I rip it, clean with WD-40 or similar including the pipe, then I wash everything with warm soapy water. The rubber rings on the syringe are removed for washing too. Once fully dry I put it back together & it's ready to use for whatever fluid.

There are M6x1.0 threaded fill hole adapters in that fluid pump tool. I used the short M6 when filling my Haldex.
@zed4me6 жыл бұрын
I just looked and yes theres an adapter but there was enough clearance for you to use it? Also, what's your procedure to prevent overfilling if you have something threaded in that is black and you can't see the fluid overflowing?
@bryangreen98896 жыл бұрын
zed4me I used the short adapter and had enough room. There are two M6 adapters (one long and one short). Overflow is recommended fill method. Once you do the initial fill (overfill) you pull the fill tool out and all extra (overfill) spills out. Once it is done flowing out the fluid level is at proper volume. All assuming vehicle is level like you showed.
@zed4me6 жыл бұрын
Bryan Green makes sense. I just didn't want it overfilled so much that a lot of oil drips out. But you are correct and I'm glad you pointed that out. One of the biggest reasons I love posting videos on KZbin is the information I learn from viewers. Thank you for the info!

What was moving in the rear diff with the car idling stationary? I don’t no anything about that diff but I don’t think running the engine with the car sitting still will make the fluid circulate. There is probably an electric motor that applies a coupling or clutch like mechanism which then spins the ring gear and then the axles.

The gen 5 system is different from previous. Haldex engages rear drive even when front wheels still have traction, doesn’t wait for front slipping before directing drive to the rear.

Hi. Do you know if 2013 Audi TT / MK2 has the same system? I bought it with 45K and now it is at 50K, RR driveshaft seal is actually sweating, no oil drops but area is somewhat oily. If I am going to get my hands dirty, I should probably change both seals as other one likely not too far behind the sweating one, and might as well change fluid since it will need to be checked/topped off, makes sense just replace all of it, in my opinion. Thanks.

zed4me I think the stock muffler breaks in and gets louder over time. This could be another factor that made you re-install the resonator. Have you considered electric exhaust cutouts? Best of both worlds.
@zed4me5 жыл бұрын
@@stevebbkny2394 certainly have considered those and actually have a set that is boost activated so that it's only loud when you get on it. Only issue with the electric ones if that I haven't found one that is reliable, I don't want it breaking in the winter time especially with new York salty winters. The boost activated one I haven't installed because I could see scenarios where I wouldn't want it to be loud even when stepping on it.
