Vollendam & Zaan Schans: the traditional Dutch villages just a short bus ride from Amsterdam

Join us through the picturesque Dutch countryside! In this video, we'll guide you through taking the bus from Amsterdam to Vollendam and then on to Zaanse Schans, two iconic destinations that showcase the beauty and culture of the Netherlands.
Our Amsterdam plans included so much more, but we had a flu go through the family so we spent 2 of our days in the Netherlands in the hotel recuperating. We still wanted to share with you getting out of the city to the traditional villages and so our last day in the city we doubled down to hit both locations.
🚌 Amsterdam to Vollendam:
Our adventure begins in the heart of Amsterdam, where we hop on a comfortable bus that takes us to Vollendam. Along the way, you'll be captivated by the scenic views of windmills, tulip fields, and traditional Dutch houses.
🌷 Vollendam Highlights:
- Stroll along the charming waterfront promenade.
- Visit the Volendams Museum to learn about local history.

After our time in Vollendam, we board another bus that whisks us away to the enchanting Zaanse Schans, a living museum of Dutch history and craftsmanship.

- Witness the majestic windmills up close and discover their significance in Dutch heritage.
- Explore the cobbled streets lined with historic houses and artisan workshops.
- Take a guided tour inside a working windmill to see the inner workings and the mesmerizing view from the top.

We wanted to make it there and also a day in Maastricht, unfortunately we spent a good amount of time in Amsterdam with the flu and didn't go out at all. Guess it means we'll have to come back!

​@@teepsfam If you get the chance, take children to Efteling, kaatsheuvel. (Near belgium border) Beautiful theme park with original fairytales.. Nothing Disneyfied.. neither the fairytales or the prices. But definitely worth the magical experience.

Ah volendam Coke city , there is more cocaine and drugs in the sewers than they sell in amsterdam . I never will understand why people would go to Volendam the most despised overrated tourist trap . Nothing is authentic not even the fish comes from there . its sold 30 km to the west in ijmuiden . You just brough your family in to the most drug crazed town in the netherlands . even columbian druglords are envious in the amount of cocaine that resides in their sewers. Visiting real zuiderzee towns Vissit Hoorn , Enkhuizen , Medemblik den Oever . a much better choice for the kids as well.
