Hi, I have a question. Why does the R side hitter and (OH) left side hitter switch in the 5-1.
@DennisJacksonvts
@DennisJacksonvts 4 ай бұрын
Before the serve, each player needs to be in the correct position on the court. After the ball is contacted for serve, the players can then switch positions. The player opposite the setter is the right side hitter. After the ball is served, this player will switch to hit from the right side. When the setter is on the front row, the setter plays in the right front position.

@@DennisJacksonvts I understand that they switch, Is the advantage of doing that?

@@ChingonRocks Hitting on the right side is different than hitting on the left side. For example, when hitting on the left side, a right handed person will be in a position with shoulders more open to the ball. This is usually an easier position to be in to hit than when on the right side. It's generally easier to hit over here, so this is why the left side hitter is usually the go to hitter on the team. This is also why the front row setter is positioned at Right Front. So they can set the ball facing left side hitter. If you're right handed hitting on the right side, you often jump more square to the net and the ball needs to travel across your body to get to the right hand. This is usually more difficult than when on the left side. Also, on the left side, the shoulders are open which allows for the hitter to turn into the ball. This position is easier to hit with more power. So, it can be tougher to hit with power on the right side. Also, blocking is different. On the right side, you are matched up against the left side hitter which is usually the best hitter and on the left side blocking you are sometimes matched up with the front row setter. Generally, the best attacker is hitting on left side. This is why you will most often have the best blockers blocking the left side attacker. Hope this helps.

I am a central blocker,in our reception the ball is often brought to me after a serve,and not to the setter,I don’t understand how to attack then and where to go so that the setter passes.Sorry if there are mistakes,I communicate through a translator because I don’t know English.Where do you watch volleyball matches from?

After you block, you need to quickly move off the net and get in position to take an approach to hit. The team should try to pass the ball to the setter so the setter can set. It's usually best for the team to pass the ball closer to the right side of the court rather than the middle so the setter is able to get to the ball. If the setter is struggling to get to the ball to set, the team needs to pass the ball higher and further off the net. The setter can also be in a position closer to the passing target area so it's easier for the setter to get to the ball.

I have been struggling to understand my rotation for weeks now so am i just supposed to memorize it?
@DennisJacksonvts
@DennisJacksonvts 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I wouldn't try to memorize it. Just understand the basic things such as 1) know what player you follow, 2) the player that follows you, and 3) the player you are opposite. For example, if you are an outside hitter, then you need to know the player that's the other outside hitter. They are opposite you on the court. Before the ball is served, see where the opposite player is. If you see them at left front, then you know you are right back. If you see them at middle front, then you know you are middle back. If you see them at right front, then you know you are left back. At first, this may be difficult to recognize. But with practice, you will recognize the situation quickly. You will figure things out much faster. You must practice this to get better. If you just memorize the rotation, you can't learn anything and won't ever be able to figure out what to do when you don't know what is going on. I hope this helps!

RF is right front. RB is right back. LF is left back. CF is center front. CB is center back. It's dividing the court into 6 areas.
