I really like this video, I just started playing like a year ago and im going to be a senior. I never really learned my approach ive been practicing this and my hitting has gotten alot better because i always contact the ball low and now i contact higher but i still need to work on timing any advicE? Well thanks alot you videos have really been helping me! :)
@ToxiCsamsung11 жыл бұрын
Great Video!but i have a question to you:when to go to spiking?when the ball is already setted or ...?
@Volleyball1on1Videos11 жыл бұрын
Depends on what set you are hitting, different sets have different timing!
@ToxiCsamsung11 жыл бұрын
I usually play like a middle hitter/blocker ,but my problem is that i jump too fast and i cant hit the ball normally(i hit from over the head ,or from front of my face).I will apriciate if you can help me to be better hitter.
@connoredwards47409 жыл бұрын
ToxiCsamsung So you are getting a 1 set? If so you need to jump and swing as soon as the setter let's go of the ball and it is in the air? Or you can ask for a higher set...
@gracebandyy8 жыл бұрын
normally I start my approach when the ball reaches the highest peak in its set. I used to leave early and my approach and spike would land in the net because my momentum launched forward instead of up.

@volleyballanybody Well allot of less exp people think this, The reason you pull your left hand to your chest is so that you can have a high contact point! if you pull your left hand down you no longer contact the ball at a high point! Also there is more than enough power generated by pulling to the chest the left arm vs. needing to pull it all the way down!
@aswintechzz513011 жыл бұрын
this video really helped me sir. but i can't jump higher while concentrating on the position and angle of the hand. Will it change with continuous practice?
@xaixiong201112 жыл бұрын
This is the best teaching on good form balance momentum and power. The only thing i believe he missed was the leg kick when you are curled up in the air. Well for me that was what gave me the maximum power hits because i feel like a whip
@keelyisthename13 жыл бұрын

@ethanlarsen737911 жыл бұрын
The way I learned is a four step. Two step is basically like, (right handed hitter) Right foot, left foot comes in and jump (explosive movement). Four step would be like a "C" movement. So you have your left foot goes out a bit (position), right foot to line, left foot a bit more outside (lined up with 3' attack line, wait for set) then you come in for explosive quickly, right (bigger step) left (pointing towards setter with chest open to setter) and jump. Should be jumping on the LS line.

When the setter hits it or whoever send the ball, do the approach the moment you see the ball coming down. Don't wait until it's like right infront of your face 'cause then it'd be too late.. Try doing it and practicing until you get your timing and you'll do it right. :) It worked for me..
@Volleyball1on1Videos14 жыл бұрын
@garetdraco87 If you watch the video you will notice everything in the video leads to the snap! I agree the snap is the most important part! But in order to generate real snapping power you have build up to it! I used to snap on the ball harder than anyone I've seen. this video will show you how! also be sure to see the other 600 + video on our home site

Is it just a two step movement? When you do the approach to hit the ball? Because in practice we have like 3 coaches and one told me that it's a 3-step approach. Left foot, right foot, left and then jump.. but the coach from varsity said it was just 2 steps and boom you jump, but just to not be in doubt. & Thanks your video was helpful.

Hey Andor! Thanks for the video, it helped me greatly throughout my volleyball practices! Just a quick question, I'm trying to control my downballs for things such as peppering with someone else; am I supposed to make my arm swing slower but everything else stays the same? And also would I have to swing a little early to compensate the slowness to also create good contact? Thanks so much!

I think when you swing your right hand to spike while both hands are up, the left hand should be swing back when you are hitting and not to bring it to your chest.

increase the distance of your pepper partner so you don''t have to slow your arm swing as much and what this will do is also improve yoru ball control. See the distance of UCLA players or the USA team peppering, they are far apart and swing at the ball with a good amount of power!

Very informative, especially since after watching I've discovered I'm doing several things WRONG!
@dennisdavis694310 жыл бұрын
I disagree with a few things here, especially how to pull your arm back. when pulling your arms up, it should be one single motion to bringing your arm up and back, not two separate motions. your right (hitting) arm should never be fully extended out in front of you, instead as you raise your left arm out in front of you your right arm should go straight into hitting position with your elbow back and high. this is especially true for middle hitters, as a middle you need to be ready to swing the moment your leave the ground, there's no time to extend your arms out in front of you then pull your right arm back.
@andorgyulai33027 жыл бұрын
Well Dennis, I guess it depends on your level, high level 2 motions, lower level maybe 1. No on point 2, you wrong! I want both arms up so I can jump higher. And no its not true for middles! Depends on the middle!
