I've also found that timing affects your hitting greatly. Of course it affects the power of the hit if your timing isn't as good but it does affect it A LOT. I always start my approach when the ball almost reaches it's peak so I gain speed and power :)
I'm doing multiple workouts of these videos, and I'm starting to see some results. I will do these workouts throughout the next week, and come back and share my results so more people will learn about these. Thanks for the vids!

@ski4life19 Flexibility is key in when adding muscle. Remember, bulk is not everything in volleyball. Muscle beach body builders are not found on the court. Instructors Seth Burnham and Marcin Jagoda have great series on how to stay flexible while adding strength and power. Check their stuff out at Volleyball1on1.

Thank you so much for these exercises and tips! Finally a video with the info I was looking for. I'm a bigger guy and been spiking with just raw power. I see skinnier guys who spike with not as much power as I do but the ball hits the ground faster than mine. I was told that snapping your wrist just before you come in contact with the ball is key with the ball travelling faster to the ground (which explains why that skinnier guy spikes look faster than mine) Are there any tips you can give in retraining myself ? I will definitely use these exercises and tips to get started. Thank you!

@carmenshea1000 To help with your timing start by hitting against a wall with your feet on the ground. Then occasionally add a jump to improve your timing when you're in the air. As you become better add more jumps during your warmup. As you progress check out other videos by Mike Diehl. Good luck!

In most situations you should never be close enough to the net on contact that you have to worry about contacting the net when you follow through. If the you are hitting the net on follow through you should talk to the setter and coach and have the set set further off the net.

So, i run track and do long jump which, in case you don't know, involves exploding off ofyour left, or right, leg. but i also play middle in volleyball and i ALWAYS jump off of one foot but i feel like i would get more power from jumping off of both of them....how can i change that?>

Andor Gyulai here! - Depends how serious you are and how much time you have. I would vary in my peak to everyday 8 sets of 50 for the fast tri exercise, combined with 8 sets of 20 to 25 for the other two. As my schedule changed I lowered it to 3 days a week working in 4 Sets of 50 and 1 set of 100, plus 4 sets of 20 and 1 set of 30-40.... Anyway I hope this helps! Also I did not include it in this video but be sure to work on your trunk rotation in addition! We have filmed some great videos on Volleyball1on1 on the subject!
