Voltage dividers are used for low current low voltage, such as obtaining 3v from 5v. The 3v is then used as a signal to drive a transistor, which drops the voltage an additional 0.3v while increasing the current.

I can't get it, if we use the voltage dividers for limiting the voltage on the load, why don't we just put a corresponding resistor in aeries with the load ?

Voltage dividers are usually used to obtain a certain voltage for a high impedance destination, like if you needed a 5V reference voltage for an op-amp or microcontroller. To provide power to a load you would do what you're suggesting
