@@TheUnperson ... I guess I meant "The Sound of Big Babou" from the same album "Unreasonable behaviour". Still one of my most favourite albums of him! Really love what you did with the VL2 here! You should release the track so I can buy them ;)

great video, quality sounds/patches. would love to see another one, with more experimental sounds. maybe a no talking one if you have time
@yugensan525619 күн бұрын
Sounds great. Have you done a video anywhere going through these patches in detail?
@TheUnperson13 күн бұрын
Thanks! I haven't done that video but will likely revisit the VL2 in future :)

Does each sequencer produce pitch and gate per step? Another video of yours I just want to study. Truly fantastic. Your SD & patching are next level, for sure.
@TheUnperson2 ай бұрын
The sequences both have a gate and cv output which you can patch into the synth, or into external gear if you like! Glad you’re enjoying the videos ☺️

Thank you for this demo! A question: I'm not sure whether you are using it as a standalone in these jams? I see the Microcosm: are you using it? And, the other device: never seen it, what is it and are you using it? Thank you!
@TheUnpersonАй бұрын
Hey thanks! I am using the microcosm as a reverb, and the other device is the boss rps-10 ~ an old digital delay. The delay on the VL2 has a very dark character which isn’t suited to every jam, so I do use external effects sometimes.
@ModuSpaSmАй бұрын
@@TheUnperson Thank you for your prompt reply. I'll check that Boss RPS-10: I like the "calculator" look of it ;)
@TheUnpersonАй бұрын
@ModuSpaSm ahh sorry, the boss is the box on the right in the opening patch. The calculator looking device is the teenage engineering KO2. I’m using it as my drum machine.

@@TheUnperson Ahah, okay, no problem and thank you!

For someone that doesn't have any modular gear, do you think this might make a more complete starting point than something like the 0-Coast? From what I can tell, there's a bit more you can coax out of it to make separate lines, even as you demonstrate the more experimental sounds.
@howardyermish5 ай бұрын
With the above said, I have plenty of modular gear, so I tend to shy away from semi-modular stuff at this point. So really my question is to help friends that are more intimidated by going into modular in the first place.
@soysos.tuffsound5 ай бұрын
I think this would be a bit tough for someone with zero modular experience, but for someone with real interest and willing to put in the practice, not insurmountable.
@IndieAuthorX4 ай бұрын
A closer comparison might be with 0 coast combod with the 0 ctrl.

I absolutely love Pittsburgh Modular and have many of their modules but I haven't been interested in anything from their Safari series.. they are less exciting than their classic laboratory looking modules and more expensive( in my opinion..) I think it has to do with the increasing price of electronic parts which is asham..
@TheUnperson5 ай бұрын
I used to have the old filter module with the big cutoff knob ~ really love the look of that module!
@normdurkin64255 ай бұрын
@@TheUnperson ..yes Professor.. I have 11 of the Series 1 and 2 modules (look like from a 1960's laboratory) the big knob on their Filter, Verbtronic are Oscillator 2 just plan look cool.. this is an excellent video the best I have seen yet on the Voltage Lab 2.. I am just disappointed in the direction they went..
@geerhoar5 ай бұрын
Actually, the Flamingo and VL2 VCOs are something new in analog wave shaping, as is the controller/sequencer. I agree that prices are higher. I’d like to see a new, standalone VCF from Pittsburgh Modular.

@@geerhoar ..what about the Cre8audio Mr. Phil Ter .. ? ..I thought that Cre8audio wasn't that great at first but seem to be excellent for the price.. they worked with and used Pittsburgh Modular's technology ..
