Oh perfect, more G.A.S. Great Analog Synthesizer! Richard, Michael, and the Pittsburgh Modular team have created a truly awesome synthesizer. Like a compact synth battle station!

oh man they've done it this time, I'm not sure everyone grasps the monstrocity of this achievement by Pittsburg Modular. In the 10 years that I have been doing Modular this is a true Milestone in analogue synthesis. As if the Taiga wasnt enough, Im gonna have to get this one also. Thanks for the no bullshit video Jorb !!

The only thing you can really compare it to is some of the work by Analogue Solutions. But Pittsburgh’s circuits are always 5-10 years ahead of the curve, if not more. I have the smaller module they made based upon center clipping (Flamingo), and it’s genius. Never been done before in an analog synth. I use it for generating harmonics with any sound source. You can pass any sound source through this system. Guitar, bass, vocal, anything.

Brilliant bit of kit! I think a Zoia Euroburo would make a phenomenal pairing with this, to make up for VL's limited effect section and add some more voicing. The combo would probably be the only modules I'd ever need if I ever take the plunge into Eurorack.

That sounds great. I hope they release the oscillator 1 as a module. If I was still playing wind synth in a band I'd definitely get that.

@@JorbLovesGear it goes hard as all fuck bro. Aaaaaaaaah. I unfortunately have run out of space after getting literally every device from soma laboratories. It's all good I don't get my film scoring check for another ten days or so, then I'll decide. Time to rearrange the room again. Hey I don't mean to be ignorant but I've always wondered why you would buy a modular synth over building out your own mod rack or buying something way simpler like a Korg or Roland. I'm just getting into synths so I'm a bit of a noob...
@JorbLovesGear8 ай бұрын
There's a few parts here, modular vs fixed architecture is such a different experience to sit and use. Patching seperate modules is a chance to experiment, to be surprised by what you can plug in. Why buy a complete modular system over individual modules, there's something to be said for an instrument being designed as complete, designed to work with the rest of the modules in the unit. Often it's cheaper than the component parts would be seperately, or here in the VL2 they just don't all exist as modules
@Mystictheman0_08 ай бұрын
@@JorbLovesGear Good to know, I always just thought synths like the VL2 were a weird mid-ground between full mod setups and straight up keyboard synths, it's all very complicated so thanks! Love your channel by the way!

Are you able to set your own scales for the quantizer?
@soysos.tuffsound8 ай бұрын
Yes, there are a bunch of ways to tune the Touch Controller. Chromatic, major, minor, microtonal, you can set the key signature and more.
@geerhoar8 ай бұрын
I was wanting functionality where you could select any of the chromatic notes you wanted, and the red and yellow knobs and scan inputs would be limited to that. For example, I could select only a triad, and turning the red or yellow knobs (or the scanning) would select between those three notes across multiple octaves.
@soysos.tuffsound8 ай бұрын
@@geerhoar I'm pretty sure it'll do that. I'd suggest hitting up the Pittsburgh Modular folks after Super Booth and ask that specifically. If you're in Berlin, you could check for yourself in person 😁
