@@AdventureTimesUK I can't wait to ride this coaster. I watched it get build and was there just before they finished it (unfortunately I didn't had a say in when we were going to Europapark) but seeing the tracks and watching it being set in place got me so hyped for this. I'll definitely be there next year.

Voltron is a seriously incredible set of engineering from Mack rides ngl. Its got a really cool feature tho where itll work like Hagrids, but it will auto-relaunch a train if something goes wrong. Once the block or launch infront is clear, itll reset the launch (if theres one) wait a couple seconds then launch the train again. Theres a video circulating on an emergency stop at the turntable section. Its ability to relaunch a train through a block allows it to have such a high capacity. Honestly such a wonderful ride and very well programmed.
@theplanespotter28497 ай бұрын
Would imagine due to the nature of the roll-back and how unlikely it is or is perceived to be, it's not so equipped to deal with situations like these, therefore needing engineering intervention to get it moving again.
@AdventureTimesUK7 ай бұрын
Totally agree it’s an incredible coaster made by one of the best companies the technology that things thing uses is amazing credit to Mack!!
@BlueZirnitra7 ай бұрын
@@theplanespotter2849 it's not considered to be unlikely. Rollbacks are designed into these rides from as far away as the earliest hydraulic launchers. They're expected. A cutting edge ride like this is going to have incorporated those understandings and safety precedents in a comprehensive way. Every single launch track on the ride is prepared to deal with a rollback. Their nature vs. variable conditions means they are not infallible so the idea is to normalise these mistakes and make them pass smoothly by design. Older coasters just shut down and get stuck. Leaving you to walk down the lift hill or get craned out of valley. The only delay you're seeing here is down to park safety protocols, they need to document the "fault", check over the rides systems, probably get the thumbs up from a manager to authorise the relaunch.
@theplanespotter28497 ай бұрын
@@BlueZirnitra that’s exactly my point. Im not denying rollbacks are going to happen or that it’s definetly been factored into the rides design, I’m considering the likelihood of a rollback from that position to make a programmer program a recovery from that position. It’s upset recovery is outstanding. When I say unlikely I mean from the swing launch it’s nearly always gonna make it over the top, and if it doesn’t it’s not been programmed to reset as quickly either on purpose or as a reason to let maintenance come along and sort the issue. Normal block operations on Voltron allow the automatic reset and start up of launches if a train were to stop on one, gravity or ride induced.
@theplanespotter28497 ай бұрын
And a simple reason for a longer wait on the launch could be to let the launch motors cool, although as we’ve seen here maintenance is pretty on the ball and it launched pretty quickly from stopping.

Such a cool video. How early in the day was this and was it cool out? Amazing to see the technology built into the ride to keep everyone safe and allow multiple trains to run at once. Will look forward to EL Toro Ryans next video on this. Thanks for the content. Love the back row POV.

So the train in front of ours rolled back after a launch so our train had to stop on a block section, engineers reset everything re-launched the car in front then our train carried on, in a nut shell
@Strazman7 ай бұрын
It's a good idea to watch some other POV videos of this ride successfully complete its circuit and then come back to this one. That way, you'll see what the ride is *supposed* to do and where exactly this e-stop occurred. From this video's point of view, they stopped just before a turntable element that leads into a complex multi-launch section. Fortunately, the block sectioning and technology of this ride prevented the train (our train - the POV one) from entering the turntable area directly ahead. The turntable takes the incoming train, spins it around 180 degrees and onto a new track, and then launches it backwards a bit, and then launches it forward. In this case, that forward train didn't quite make the hill after its forward launch and ended up back near the turntable. Therefore, the POV train (the one we're on) was successfully brought to a halt by the e-braking system just before the turntable. TL:DR it's a marvel of modern-day engineering and technology, and a concrete example of how coasters today are extremely safe. A lot of this makes much more sense if you watch and/or study up on block braking systems and block sections on coasters.
@BlueZirnitra7 ай бұрын
The coaster has multiple launch sections that propel the train through the next bit of track. These sections double as "block sections" which are zones that only one train can be in at a time. In this case the train didn't get enough power from the launch to make it over the next element and rolled back. This is normal and part of the design as the launch motors are trying to very carefully judge launch power based on the weight of the train, and will sometimes undershoot. But that's fine, because the launch track is also a brake, and stops the train when it reversed back down the track. Our POV train is stopped on our block sections because we are waiting for the section with the rollback incident to be clear! After some checks, the operators let the ride relaunch, and once the next train made it through the next section, our train was allowed to move on and finish the ride!

@ShockinSammy6 ай бұрын
Ehh, it's a mix. A roll back does not usually take that long to reset.
@JazzCoasters6 ай бұрын
@@ShockinSammy I think working with 7 trains as Voltron do it's normal to take that long with a roll back, coz' they must stop the rest of the trains in the other block sections, that combined with electric charge distribution issue seems the most reasonable explanation because we can see a first launch test before real launch
@AdventureTimesUK6 ай бұрын
for us it was a breakdown, we weren't on the train that rolled back, they struggled to get it going again so turned the ride systems off and restarted we were sat there for around 10-15 minutes, at one point it was looking like we were going to get evacuated however they managed to avoid that. H :)
