Volunteer Firefighter Station Response #2

Hey fellas welcome back! Here’s another firefighter response video going to a landing zone for a medical. Video is a bit longer due to distance but hope you guys enjoy! I did cut the video off about the 12 minute mark so I could get more information while en route. Today’s response video is a little bit more heavy traffic than normal with school being out for the afternoon but there is a part two to this video which will be uploaded right after.

As Emergency Vehicles are responding, we are required to stop for school buses

I always give the bus the right of way regardless if I’m responding or not. That’s why you heard me kill the siren and downgrade the lighting.

This is cool to watch as im a volunteer fire fighter in Poland, im surprised you live that far away from the station, im only within 5 minutes but i still take my POV.

I was at a friends house hanging out with them when the call dropped. I live just around the corner from my station so it usually takes me about 4-5 minutes running code to get to the station

@@Iceobelisk1 Ah that would make sense, its a requirement here that you must live within 10 minutes of a station in order to even be a volunteer. But whenever I'm more than an hour or so away and my pager goes off i tend not to go because by the time i reach the station they're already up and gone.

Just left the FD after 23 years in Ms. My last station was only 3 min from the house

In Kentucky (where I used to live) if you are responding to the station with your Emergency Lights and Siren going and end up at the scene in your P.O.V. does that mean that you are not ready.

It depends. We do our very best to avoid going to scene in our POVs because it crowds the scene that much more and gets in the way and there are few people at my department that I know who has their gear in their cars.

Thank you! It’s one of the best rewarding jobs I’ve done and I’m currently working towards being a career firefighter. It’s fun but it’s not for everybody

Why are you switching between code 3 and code 2?

I only downgraded to code 2 when there wasn’t a lot of traffic around but when I hit the heavier traffic, I would go back up to code 3

I do that with the ambulance. If the traffic is light and at night.

I run a 4200 Datalink with a Storm Pro 200w siren but with only one speaker. I’m gonna be posting a pov setup soon. Stay tuned for it. I’ll probably be uploading it either Monday or Tuesday of next week. :)

My state only the chief/ass chief is allowed sirens (which is stupid) my setup is on my channel.

East TN vollie here. They throw us under the jail if we have any kind of lights/sirens on a POV lol.

It varies from state to state on the rules and regulations along with department SOPs and their policies

I’m a basic firefighter but where I live, we’re allowed to have sirens on our vehicles with certain certifications obtained through the department.
