I think it is important to donate. We went to the Santa Anita Racetrack and we were turned away like several other people who came to donate were turned away. We waited for a long time to donate only to be told that they don't want any clothes or shoes. I think all donations should be accepted and be dispersed to other places and other donations sites. I think it is a beautiful thing to donate and help in any way that we can but donations shouldn't be denied but dispersed to other groups and other charities properly who can do something meaningful with all the donations. We have twenty bags for donations that could help a lot of people and I don't think it is right to deny donations just disperse the donations and coordinate with other services and donations sites that will be happy to take the excess donations. Everything helps and a lot of people are in need. It's frustrating to be told that they didn't want our donations especially after waiting for so long and they should have posted signs in the front entrance that they were not accepting clothing or shoe donations not wait until the end to let people know that they didn't want their donations and so many people just want to contribute and help out in ways that they can. And I don't think it is right to not accept all donations. People really want to help and we went there to help and donate a lot of things but the people running the grassroots donation site at Santa Anita Racetrack turned away several people who just wanted to help by donating what they could and I think all donations should be accepted. It's important to help others in their time of need and not turn away people who are just trying to do their part.

I was also out donating this weekend and got rejected at some spots since they were full. Luckily we found somewhere else to donate the hygiene products we bought to contribute for the effort. I think they had to turn away after they reached donation capacity because it does require more volunteers and coordination to move and distribute excess donations logistically. Keep in mind these had to be organized within hours to days. to the point where most volunteers I saw had their names written on them with masking tape since there wasn’t time to organize real name tags

I was homeless 2.5 years because of the Government Covid PLANdemic 2020. I understand the pain and anguish of loosing almost everything and being homeless in LA. All of you that can help, need to. I worked/delivered to many of you in LA and OC living in huge homes all alone. Help your neighbors and do what's right and noble! The Government fails us every time. I was there yesterday volunteering for 8hrs..an entire day sorting items from piles and piles of stuff donated. So many shameless people taking advantage bringing dollies and taking more than they need; taking cases of water and arms full of stuff they can’t carry and returning back and forth filling up their trucks with these free grabs. There were TONS of clothes, toiletries, food, water, you name it. A huge parking lot filled with everything. There was also a truck (two H!spanic guys) that stole cases of food and drove off and almost hit pedestrians when they were being stopped. Disgusting behavior. There were also rude people with no manners rummaging through stuff without saying excuse me and throwing them back into the piles. 90% were Lat!no/H!spanics. They bring their entire families, and take everything that is free. These weren’t victims of the wildfires. I went there to try and help but was shocked to see it wasn’t what I expected. It was complete chaos and unorganized compared to other donation/volunteer places I visited. It’s not at all what it seems on social media.

Billionaires never thought in investing in an indoor and outdoor sprinkler system, water collection tank, and high pressure hose to at least extinguish spot fires and mitigate the conflagration. It only takes teamwork from this so called apartheid, close-knit close communities. Nope. One of the major issues that firefighters have faced is low water pressure caused by many homeowners running sprinklers to save their homes. It is a dry climate, prone to drought and Santa Ana winds. It is exacerbated by climate change. Substantive action to slow the rate of warming is needed. We can't sprinkler our way out of a planet on fire.

@SheilaR.08 The water pressure problem in the palisades could have been remedied by having the reservoir filled but it’s been in ‘maintenance’ for a year now, and the fire mitigated by prepared clearings of the brush, if Native Americans did it why can’t we still do it. Climate change is not really the main issue in this situation because whether or not climate change exists the proper measures to deter a fire disaster from happening were not in place. Had CA not done away with its fire prevention methods of yesteryear this fire would have had a higher probability of being contained much quicker
