Now that's what you call a car, a comfy cruising car, no blacked out rear windows, unlike the uncomfortable huge SUVs on the road now. The Rolls Royce SUV looks like a house brick on wheels. This Volvo has style, perhaps a slim line house brick 😅 but I like it.

I worked for a Volvo agency in the early 1980's and we occasionally got a 164 in for service. The last of them had a more padded dash and larger tail lights shared with the late model Volvo 144DL and GL. We had one example traded in where the six cylinder engine had been damaged by some sort of neglect, one of our best mechanics bought it for a song and modified the engine mounts to take the Volvo 144DL B20 engine which was considerably shorter and lighter. Much modification was required for things like cooling hoses as the radiator is much further forward in the nose, however he successfully achieved the conversion and that vehicle was on the road for a few more years whereas ordinarily we would have scrapped it or broken it for parts.
