It always warms my heart to see a machine properly restored to life. Some people dont understand the importance of scheduled maintenance, or they forego the expense of fluid and filters. It's actually more costly to neglect it as premature wear and failure is the result. You certainly understand how senseless it would be to just run the tractor as is. It would run it to ground and be a waste of a good procurement. Take care of a machine and it will take care of you, I always say. I'm anticipating seeing your new equipment serve you well.

Howdy Simon- most of the older buggy’s have a few leaks unless it’s been very well cared for as you well know. But still, it’s going to be a great asset to you. My old tractor has lots of cuts and bruises but it keeps on going. I’m sure you will have everything up in good shape. So happy you have a machine like that. Will be a body saver for sure. Hello Simon. Great content in your videos i think! Like an comment above, it really warms a heart to se old machines get serviced and put to work again. It takes much effort to make your own dry wood for every winter! Glad to se you got this equipment for it now. Old Volvo BM tractors are renown for having very big oil tanks. Both for gear and hydraulics. Never a pluss with metal in the oil, but i think it will keep on working as is when serviced! Hydraulic hoses is an other story

Thanks. I think! I may have found a man that can make me up some hoses at a better price than town so may have help with that and we know they are going to blow. I drove it 2 hours to where I cut the tree's today ans it was just great so all good. Have a great weekend and thanks for commenting.

Hi Simon. As far as the metal piece in the oil, it may have come from a previous failure and simply not cleaned out properly. I good idea would have been the flush out the system with diesel fuel prior to putting new oil in. Other wise I would run it until something gets noticeable or nothing happens at all Also flushing the oil from the trailer hydraulics on the trailer so as to not contaminate the new oil in the tractor would be a good idea Great idea to change all fluids and filters, start from new. Great work!

Thanks Dave, I agree with the flush. However; in my experience this can create new leaks so given the expense and possibility I didn't. I did change the oil on the trailer, no metal in that. I think I am ready to go. Have a great weekend.

Nice purchase, she is an old girl bound to have teething troubles. I would not be too concerned about the flecks of metal wear and tear. The partial circlip and tooth are little bit worrysome. To work on the internals is not easy as I am sure you are aware, they are big heavy lumps, even the inner hub seal is a real bear, sorry to sound so pessimistic. Big tough old girls them tractors. I am sure she will last a long time. I wish you well. Take care.

I had a 20 minuet rant of prices, farmers and governments and cut it out. They cost a lot, eye watering compared to the price of the tractor and trailer. Thank AJ yes I hear the comment about patreon, some other have also asked. Have a great weekend my friend.

Hey Simon, that diesel hydro fluid mix would make a good preservative for a trailer deck. Maybe slippery though but rot resistant too.

All the dirt in the filters and lines are cleaning out so you may find more leaks then ya bargain for? 😅 that water in the front diff there I’d be checking the vent tube on top of it and make dang sure its got it cap on it. Unless it sat in a lake for a bit to make milk? The machine is like us Simon it’s going to have its blowouts and yes it’s LEAKS dribbles and so on 😂😂 I would also be looking in the book you got with and see just where the cur clip came from. these volvo bm 22series are known to have weak brakes and gearbox issues. they are basically an IH with Volvo decals. but they have an good engine and good hydraulic system. they are also not that common. and you got 4wd. something Volvo bm should have put on more tractors

Thanks, I didn't know it was a 4wd until after I did the deal so was very pleased when I realized what it was. All fixed now and run and stops just perfect and yes Volvo should have made more 4wd.

No see , this is a perfect opportunity to use all the extra cardboard you got there last year to put under the tractor so it doesn't get the floor all shity from oil or fluids😂 I told you all that cardboard would come in handy😅

@@arctic-rebel Simon at this point I'm surprised you haven't made a hydraulic press and they form the stuff all of those shavings into and make them into blocks or cylinders so that you can just recycle them and burn them in your stove

That would be ideal for us Heith, but I don't really produce enough and regularly yet to warrant the time, almost everything goes to animal bedding at the moment and then it is finding what I need. Every other country I have lived in when you need this stuff you go to the dump and there it all is lying around you can take what you need and few a few dollars for it. Not here, your not even allowed to forage in a dump or scrap yard! Taking anything for a bin without permission could land you in jail! It is weird to say the least but I am finding ways.
