So pleased to finally see episode 15. Good work! It's coming along nicely. On mine I'm not sanding down to the bare metal, except for areas of rust. I think if the old paint is in good shape it can be sanded with 240 grit and provide a good key for the primer/surfacer that comes next. Cheers!

Thank you! Normaly that is a fine way to prep a car. When a car is 50+ years old you never know what hides underneath the paint. I'm actually sanding the roof now for part 16. The paint looked okay with some tiny rust dots here and there but after sanding the whole roof was full of them.. Like always. Prepping a car is more important then the paint itself 😄👍🏻

You're lucky having such a nice door on the driver's side, which looks free from dings and rust as fetching a door in such a good condition today is rare, most of them have heavy rust in the bottom edge as well as serious rust damage in both lower corners...

Yeah.. my 240's are pretty gone on the lower doors. Both amazon doors are perfect! 😄

Kleine tip; ik neem aan dat je een basiskleur met daar overheen blanke gaat spuiten? Is binnen prima te doen, ik gebruik Crop luchtdrogende blanke lak ( vandaag zelfs buiten) en dat geeft een zeer goed resultaat ben droogt in 10 minuten.

Bedankt voor de comment! Maar nee, een oude volvo is meestal single stage verf vanaf de fabriek dus er gaan 3 lagen blauw op zonder blanke lak. Zo deed volvo dat ook al die jaren terug. De blanke lak zit er zegmaar al doorheen gemengt. Ik haal alles bij mercuriustools, zeer tevreden over. Maar crop ken ik zeker. Daar heb ik ook al aardig wat besteld 😄

@@RollinHeritage Goed dat je het originele verfproces volgt! Ik hoop dat er single stage is die ook snel droogt, dan kan je in jouw werkplaats fraaie resultaten behalen. En anders kan je de lak nog napolijsten. Ben heel benieuwd naar je volgende upload! Succes 💪

Painting being amateur is actually not that difficult, that's if you are not after some super paint job, what is elaborous is the prepare work, meaning fixing the rust, straithing the panels etc...

Even being an amateur you can get a great result. Even the best painters wetsand and buff the paint like on the aston martin's i work on. Those are not perfect straight out the paintbooth. The huge luck i have on volvo's is the single stage paint wich means it doesn't use clearcoat 😄👍🏻

@@RollinHeritage I don't like clear coat either, You can wear a ski hat and keep from painting your hair. Maybe pressure too high if most of paint on floor.
