Needs paint. Paint costs very much money. Starting up a shop means that costs are high and when you start up a classic car shop you will not have customers 24/7 so it's all difficult. As soon as the shop makes enough i will make amazon content again. I know it's not ideal for a youtube build but i cant magicaly make more money 😅🥲

The blue amazon is still on hold. I'm in contact with a painter. Plans are being made but i'm not painting her myself. Maybe the insides and the underside but that's it. Money is an issue for me, the shop is starting to work out but it's slow. One month it's bussy the other month no customers at all. I do have another amazon that i'm currently welding. A single very long video from start to finish is also being made. That will feel more as a single movie rather than separate episodes. The blue one will be the nicest amazon in the netherlands. I'm going for that and nothing less. But it takes time.

I've painted many cars years ago. On first coat I paint the parts that are hard to reach around inside wheel wells in window frames grill recess, door jambs. After that all over coat be machine like going across full width of panels if possible, Get that flick of the wrist as arms changes back direction so not extra build up..

She will not be saved. She has been bought by a guy that does car rodeo and demolition derby. Iknow iknow.. it's all a shame to see 😅😂 This car was pretty rusted out underneath. I have welded most of it but i do not trust my welding from back then as much as i do it now. So i don't want anyone to save it. It sounds weird but i somewhat destroyed the car by learning how to weld in my opinion. But this car is the reason that i now have my own shop and that i can save so much more cars. So she will not be scrapped for no reason.

To clear things up, This car was bough for €960,- by my back in 2019. After having it welded by someone close to me i drove it on the roadtrip to sweden. When i got back i used it as my daily for a long time and back in 2021 i started the build to make it a cleaner "show' type of 240. The welded pieces from 2019 turned out to be horrifying and every single piece of the car needed work. I learned how to do welding on this car and it teached me loads of things. The welding was all done without knowing how. Just see how it goes along the way. With what i know right know i would FULLY start over on this car. With my experience in high end aston martin restoration and knowing how much time and money goes into something. This car was not worth it in any way. The only thing that made me keep it for so long were the memories.

What? Wait a minute! I just watch the vid where you said goodbye to your white 245. And you said one of the factors was lack of space to store/park your cars. Now you have space for your old 940? Sounds like you're making up the story as you go. LOL
@RollinHeritage2 ай бұрын
You realise that the 940 is a driving, working car and the 245 is just a block of metal right? 😂 The 245 was in storage wich costed me 100,- a month. That car has cost me 1500,- the past year and a half just standing still. It's not worth that if you look at the rust it still has.

Thats just not true. Even when fully original 240's aren't worth anything close to much. I was turning this car into a showcar. With double weber 45's. It was going to be a panel van with 242 doors but still 4 seats. Rear would be shortened and lowered on the end to turn it into a shooting brake panel van. Things change, money changes. Covid hit and turned my bank account arrount and building cars turned twice as expensive and so did time.

Well, not here in the netherlands. I bought my 244 for 2250,- and that was rather high. It seems people don't understand that the 245 was a complete rotted out car when i started. To restore that to a brand new car like i'm doing to the Amazon, it will take at least 50k in parts, paint and most of all man hours to do that. No 245 is worth 50k.

Thats a huge step to take. I hope it was the right one. I myself promised to always keep my "first" car, be it as a garden ornament when it won't drive anymore - my connection to it is just too deep.. But making way for the future (Amazon in your case) can be relieving. I have never sold a car and am currently struggeling to keep all 7 of them, only my two Volvos have TÜV. The other are falling apart. Hence for me such a step seems near. Hats off to your decision. Looking forward ti the Amazons completion, the shell looks so clean 😍

My first car was a VW golf IV variant. (Wagon). Got the car before i got my licence. When i got that i blew the engine 8 days later. That car still drives around somewhere. The 245 was my second car. And i will someday, oneday, buy a similar flatnose white 245 to recreate this one. But for now it saves me 100,- a month in storage and that makes a huge difference when starting a own shop isn't going that easy.

@@RollinHeritage Thats true! Recreating it when the time is right is the next best thing, if reason/life forces you to sell it. I put the "first" in " intentionally. @RollinHeritage3 ай бұрын
Yes. 400 is a steal, but a scrapyard only gives around 200,- for a car. and since it was not roadworthy without the dutch MOT and the owner did not have a space to store the car, he needed to get it off his hands quick. Since i was the one that sold the car to him i didn't argue. i didn't mind taking my old car back and he got more money than the scrapyard would gave him :)

I had the exact same installed on my 240. Sounds the exact same. But over time it sounds better, especially if exhaust is warmed up from a long drive. Right now if you touch the throttle it burbles a tiny bit and sounds very good. If it does anything for the exhaust is hard to say. But most likely you've gained anything from 1-5hp. More if you get a downpipe.

I have a small tip on your exhaust installation, please turn the first clamp 180 degrees, so the nuts points up towards the car and not down. If not then your first attempt at a speed bump or steep driveway, it will scrape or even get hung up. (Personal experience🤫) So good to see you back again 👍🤗

Hi! If you want better sound with your Simons exhaust, you really need a better manifold too, preferably with equal length primary pipes. I once put a sports exhaust on my Fiat 131 with an (almost!) equal length manifold, and it sounded waaaay better! You'd also need new (shorter) downpipes, but the rest of the Simons system looks good. I'd really like to hear that!
@RollinHeritage4 ай бұрын
I'm working on the manifold but it's pretty expensive and i got a shop to build up and i'm saving up to paint the amazon.. I found this exhaust brand new in the original box for around a quarter of the new price here on the dutch marketplace. Lets just say i was pretty happy that day 😂
