Just came here to say that I followed your guide yesterday. The windshield washer pump on my 2013 XC70 had developed a hairline crack on one of the hose barbs, and Volvo wanted $200 for a new pump plus $200 labour to replace it. With the aid of your guide and $10 of plastic weld adhesive I was able to remove the bumper, access the pump, and fix the leak. Thank you! Notes: 1) on my car, there was an extra screw in each front wheel arch - about 10cm in from the outside, in front of the wheel. Same T25 head as the other wheelarch screws. Your video doesn't explicitly show this one, and although it's pretty obvious, I thought I'd mention it. 2) At 6:46 you show the body-color molding being unclipped. This is not too tricky, which surprised me :) but I couldn't remove the bumper cover after this because of the small black plastic clip inside the wheel arch at about the same height. That has to be freed (can be done with fingers) before the bumper cover will come off. 3) My car has adaptive cruise and parking sensors. Obviously the wires for these were also connected to the bumper. The parking sensor ones just unclip, same as the front foglamps (and are attached to the same plastic housing). I left the adaptive cruise wire connected; for my needs, it was enough to just drop the bumper cover slightly off the car. I didn't need to move it out of the way by any distance. 4) At about the 9:00 mark you discuss disconnecting the headlamp wash hoses from the reservoir. My left-hand hose actually pulled off from the headlamp washer nozzle when I pulled the front clip off. The hose itself has a grey plastic sliding clip that releases it; when it was pulled off accidentally, my hose was damaged. However, by manipulating the grey clip I was able to get the hose to make a good seal to the nozzle assembly again. Thank you for this really helpful guide!

Hello from Denmark. First of all: Thanks a lot for your videoes, they are extremely easy to follow. Next: I followed your instructions and installed the mesh grill inserts to protect my radiator on my 2016 Volvo XC60 and it worked just fine. I tried different drills and found out that the drill for metal went through the plactic as a warm knife through butter. So once more: thanks from Denmark John Sommer

Super vid. My radiator had so many stone dents, the airflow was poor. Getting the bumper off was huge. Depocking was slow and tiresome, but it reduced coolant temp from 97C to 88C. thx

Safety advice: put a wooden block (or similar) on top or to the side of the engine. This way the hood can never brake the bones in your hands if it accidentally comes down when you hold on to the car while working on it (many videos of such accidents online).

A good opportunity to vacuum bugs off radiator, and reopen any flattened fins. I used an awl to pick open the fin, being careful not to poke in more than 1-2mm. Doesn't need to be perfect, just open to airflow.

Thanks, that's a very helpful video, I particularly liked showing how to release the clips rather than just saying 'release them' so we know how to do it. My problem is the washer tank leaks, so I need to remove my bumper to inspect. I think it is probably a split pipe.

8:50 the „mice“ are normally animals we call „marder“ in germany. In sweden they have animals called „Mink“ which came from russia once upon a time... they look pretty similar... and as you can see, there are extra plastic tubes around the wire which normally should protect the cable... so you had a „Marder“ with very strong teeth 😉

I've owned "Bricks" as Volvos use to be called since 1990. In fact I just passed on my 1990 240 GLE Wagon 327,876 miles. That leaves me with a 1993 240 Classic #950 (runs, No Rust) and a 2004 XC70. Hello, do you think red (or orange) clips that keep plastic cover together with the fender are available separately? I need to disassemble two of my fender covers just to improve the glue connection and then put them back. I don't want to buy new ones because they are ok, just the glue connection failed over a length of several centimeters. And by the way, do you have any idea what kind of glue to use to join covers back with the fender?

Yes just don’t fill it up ;)

@@Alexander_l322 A late reply to a silly reply: well, there's obviously a leak if you can't fill it up all the way to the neck but I take it that you don't even own a car to know better.

@@GymChess you obviously can’t read! I said just don’t fill it up, like stop when it starts to leak out and you won’t have an issue. What the fuck did you think I meant? I never said you don’t have a leak I just meant you should stop pouring when it starts to leak out so then it won’t leak. Idiot 🤣 and you’ve probably got a crack in the bottle or a leaky rubber gasket around one of the washer jet pumps. Yes I do own a car and I’m a trained mechanic 👨🔧. You’re such a twat🤣

My xc70 was in an accident and I've got all the other parts ready to install but the shipping of this trim takes more time than expected and I need my car to commute. So I was thinking maybe I can let my body work guy to install the bumper with the old, broken part and when the new one arrives, I can just switch it from outside.
