I just want to say congrats, I know this is an old video and the car is now gone but it's one of very few videos of a C30 being driven properly on track. Really good lap :) One day I'll get over there in my T5.

You known, i'm driving now dailly a bmw 340i, and i want to buy a C30 T5 with Bilstein suspension, Focus RS MK3 brembo brakes, and all other adjustments. Around 300 bhp/pk i think is the good start of a great good fun package. C30 D5 is died because of cooling problems.

@@brechtnickmans92 Yeah they are very good fun at about that spec. I run mine on a 255 wide R888R too, cornering grip is very good although they need better cooling than stock, even with a D5/RS oil cooler I cooked mine.

Thanks everyone. The car is now 2 days with heinz car performance. Intercooler frontmount kitt. Bmc filter. Dpf off and downpipe. Sachs performance clutch Costum stage 2 map. About 255-260 ps and 600-640nm.

+1 Soleedus. I'm wondering what the heartbeat monitor would have said as well!? Still, pretty sure I'd have backed out of things at that point (not knowing the track) so well done!

Car is already 5 years gone. I have now a volvo v50 D3 as daily, but is for sale now. VW Caddy 1.6 tdi as daily, and in july, august there's a BMW 140i/240i manual as weekendcar. Mis those times on the ring, eifel roads and the belgium 'Ardennen'.

Good lap! It seems the car have understeer problems? I suppose by the 5cyl in the front. But i like this car!!!

Yes the weight in the front and the torque offcourse. And the little agressive turnings. But it is more sound of the the tires then the understeer himself.

Vandaag proef gereden in een C30 D5 geartronic. Vond hem wat groots en log aanvoelen, niet zo wendbaar en direct als de BMW 118d. Heb jij het onderstel aangepakt?

Geartronic is alles te behalve vergelijken met een manuele. Om even een voorbeeld te geven. Een D5 met automaat doet 0-100 in 9,0 sec, wat een 2.0D met 136pk even snel doet. Deze deed in zijn standaard waardes (178pk en 410nm) 0-100 in 7,3 sec. Een fiesta St met 180pk (in overboost 200pk) was dus een fractie trager als mij. Make sense. De c30 is al even terug weg. Kosten aan gehad. Volgend jaar komt er een D4 geartronic (8 Traps automaat). Deze zijn na stage 2 rond de 250-255pk en een koppel van 530-540nm. Dit in combinatie met automaat moet een van de snelste 2.0 diesels zijn op de markt. Buiten de 125D berekend van bmw.

brechtnickmans92 Dank voor je reactie. Duidelijk wat betreft het verschil qua versnellingsbakken. Het zal inderdaad heel anders rijden met een pook. De wegligging had je dus verder niet aangepakt?

Op het filmpje stond die op eibach pro kit veren. En 235/35/19 semi slicks. Een halfjaar erna had ik hem op een KW V1 gezet, toch wel veel betere wegligging, niet te vergelijken. Stond wel het laagste in die setting is was wel een stukje harder afgeveerd, zeker in combinatie met 225/35/19 banden niet de comfortabelste wagen, maar wel een van de leukste voorwiel aangedreven wagens die je ik die tijd kon kopen. Snel de bocht in, insturen van het gas en de achterkant ging een stukje om, even bijsturen met het gas erop. Was een fijne wagen maar met 250pk en 580nm had die iets teveel Turbodruk naargelang mijn rijstijl.

brechtnickmans92 Lijkt me een goede combinatie inderdaad. Volvo is een gaaf merk en de D5 is een geweldige motor. Maar als je er een drivers car van wilt maken, moet je het onderstel veranderen. Dan kunnen ze wel mee met de Duitsers. Had ook liever een handbak in de C30 D5 gezien, maar ze zijn schaars. En deze D5 automaat heeft de juiste kleurstelling: cosmic white en Java bruine skirts. Toch ga ik denk voor de BMW omdat die iets meer rijplezier geeft. Verder positief verrast door het Dynaudio systeem, nog niet eerder zulke goede audio gehoord in een auto.

There on the moment, the original clutch. But on the stage 2 map it was changed for a sachs sport clutch (can hold 600nm +).

Great car and d5 is great engine. But the c30 focus underpinnings cant handle it they dont use the st or rs parts enough they tear bottom arm bushes with tourque need polly all round and stiffer springs etc my old d5 was a sleeper hybrid turbo and other things over 260bhp and still at the time 55 60 mpg

The motor is damaged and saled it. The car has eibach springs..Next week i go for a Volvo S60 D5 225ps (4 cylinder). And goes for polestar performance stuff (exhaust, intake, exterior and interior) en goes for a software map to 280-285bhp.

Sorry to hear that. I am running a KN filter, Airtec intercooler and BSR stage 1 map. Should I stop there, as it is my work car? TBH it is quick enough for work.

@@danm9179 Around 230-235 bhp, not more. Because then the engine will to much boosted with the turbo. Everything above the 240-245bhp is deadly..to much pressure on the engine

@@vnvvvn5770 to much turbopressure (1,9). The engine was after that rebuild. But 3 months after rebuild the engine, a problem with the crack. For me that was enough.

Yes, it was possible in those times. Much better then the slow 5 geartronic gearbox.

@@brechtnickmans92 I was convinced that an automatic is the only option for a D5, which is the reason I never wanted to buy it. I nees to look this up, you might have just changed my way :)

@@pishta74 I hope you find one! They are best rare to find in manual. But it was a great allrounder. Great chassis, playfull with the back (Ford Focus chassis), Great performance/fuel comsumption. But don't tune it with stage 2. My engine was killed after 15.000 miles with stage 2. For that 20 extra horsepower and 60-70nm more torque not that worth, stage 1 is perfect ;-)

@@brechtnickmans92 What exactly broke, if you don't mind sharing? I saw you said in another comment that the turbo pressure was too much and that there was a crack. What cracked, the cylinder head, engine block?

@@TV-ok7bj the car was not made for flooring it lap after lap on the Nordschleife. Overheating problems, cylinderhead was cracked, to much turbo pressure u think also (1,8 bar) with stock turbo.

Bit to fast and hard at turning in. The poor tires are squealing before you get to the apex. Plus you seem to have your lunch rattling around the inside of the car!
