I respect the idea of preserving her beauty and hair for the husband. There is nothing wrong with this. In this day and age when women's liberty seems to be partly dictated by the less she wears - as a statement of freedom- there is a lot to be said for covering up. My point is that wearing a wig defeats the point of covering the hair. I know there are orthodox women who wear a scarf/hat, as well as Safardic Jewish ladies. Anyway, I respect them whatever they choose, but it was just curiosity that caused me to ask. God bless.

I respect the modesty Jewish women strive for, but why wear a wig to cover your hair? Wear a scarf or cloth covering! This seems to be cheating the law. Just my humble opinion.

Many do wear hats and scarves, because wigs are a lenient head-covering. However, wigs aren't sensuous, even the best of them.

I'd much rather look at a wig than a veil.

+John J The law is that your hair has to be covered. It doesn't say "how". That will rely on your community traditions, and your own personal comfort.
