I believe volvo parts are expensive because there are not much aftermarket ones. You have to buy the original ones. Happy new year, and lot of nice videos to come.

The additive lowers the burn temperature of the soot with 100 degree Celcius. Because of that the regeneration temperature is also lowered. When deleting additive system the DPF should also be removed and deleted, otherwise DPF will clogg soon because of the lower regen temperature.

Hi Luis ! in France from January 1, 2025, the ad blue or cerine systems will be checked at technical inspection, and non-compliant vehicles will no longer be allowed to drive . Happy new year to you and your family .

Just a thought but as it's just the level sensor at fault and a full tank should do nearer 100k would filling the tank and putting a resistor in place of the level sensor be good a work around.
@LMAutoRepairsКүн бұрын
If the sensor works on resistor variable yes... 👍👍👍
@ikocheratcr2 күн бұрын
Due to the "15 steps in level" the thing can provide, and the corrosive nature the additive has, I do not think it has a resistor level. Might be a capacitive thing inside. Sad the you were not able to open and peek inside. If the owner keeps the car he owns the problem, but if he sells and does not inform the seller, that is very bad.

From my experience the 4 pins on the additive tank are power, ground and can bus. Isn’t the additive module incorporated in the tank?
@LMAutoRepairs3 күн бұрын
As I have explained in the video, and linked into a video where that was the case, but not on this one... 👍👍👍
@alexbotez15263 күн бұрын
My bad. I missed the part where you explained the pinout of the tank. I dealed with the a few Peugeot systems that all had the module in the tank. Didn’t realise that Volvo uses a separate module. Good work mate! Can you tell up what software you use for deleting this from the Engine Ecu? Or make a video of how you did this? Thank you and all the best! Happy new year!

Very expensive piece of plastic 😂 Question: if you knew the sensor's "full" resistance and put a fixed resistor to trick the module the tank is full, or maybe 3/4 full, wouldn't have got the same result? Just in case in the future someone would have really changed the tank... I'm not blaming you, of course, the owner got what he wanted 😅
@LMAutoRepairs3 күн бұрын
😊 I guess that would have worked... you would just never be warned when the tank was empty... 😊 👍👍👍
@alexdragomirescu50843 күн бұрын
@LMAutoRepairs Of course it wouldn't. I'm leaning more on the not doing software changes side. I've seen some bad software modifications (not your case) that gave other problems. Had a a4 with adblue deleted and was eating the battery in 3 days. As it turned out the module was always on and searching for the values, as a consequence the CAN was always on...
@LMAutoRepairs3 күн бұрын
@alexdragomirescu5084 True... Seen the exact same issue on a Range Rover... Spent days try to figure out the drain, already blaming a bad ecu, to then being told that the issue started after the adblue was deleted... Sent it back to reload the original, and the issue was just an empty adblue tank! 😅
@alexdragomirescu50843 күн бұрын
@LMAutoRepairs Yep! It's the new normal these days. Brings a lot of money too (to the mechanics). The excuse is always the same.... manufacturers are stupid. A guy with 500 euro equipment is more intelligent than a billion euros R&D department 😄. In my case (and your's) the client thinks I'm the a$$ because I have to charge him for the diag, for the reflash and for the actual repair. In the A4 case I told him to get the original software back from who did the "repair" and come back for the actual repair. Of course he didn't.

@@LMAutoRepairs PS: if you record some time ago I asked you about a w211 used airbag module (reprogram). Actually it was very easy... Unlock the module, begin the "first initialization", follow the process, rewrite the VIN and done (xentry). If it happens to you, it's a 20 min job. Happy New Year!

Car to old to be spending a fortune on it. Who would risk a used tank. New would be the only sensible way to go. That would be prohibitively expensive. Cannot really fault the man wanting it mapped out. What ECU was on it? Curious to know if it has the manufacturer time bomb in it like the Peugeot/Citroen vehicles have. Wonder if there's any info on AllData etc. on what the level sensor should read and did it have an external module?
@LMAutoRepairs3 күн бұрын
It was an EDC16C31 Not sure about the ticking clock on it, but wouldn't surprise me... it is a peugeot on its guts. The trickery on the level sensor would most likely work, but would create another issue, no warning when the tank would get empty... 👍👍👍

If you delete only trouble codes from file, you will get soon DPF errors. I bet your customer will be back under 1000km with DPF problems. Easier is just put resistor, if not want change tank.

You didn't know how to reset the system. The additive tank it was good and adm module the same. You should be switched off the engine and ignition on, reset dtc from diesel engine module, reset dtc from adm module and after that you should trigger additive level reading procedure. At the end after you start and stop the engine 3 times the correct additive level is displayed. Next ting is to go back and reset the additive level and the message you get should be operation successful. After all this process you should check again and reset dtc from engine module if came back during the additive reading process. The adm modure should have no dtc present. The additive level sensor can't be checked with multimeter because it is a piezoelectric sensor so you get no reading. You are correct that eolys shouldn't be in the pump case that came out from the tank from around the pump terminals. That is not a big issue. The big issue is when is coming in the 4 pins connector. With these things you can't afford to suppose anything, the best way is to get informed from manufacturer service documentation. I watching you from time to time, you are doing your best. All the best!

The pump was not working anyway, damaged by the fluid... All your description on how to reset the level it is a bit confusing, and the many times I have worked on this systems never had to do such procedure, and successfully reset many of these... If I recall correctly, the wires to the pump were slightly burnt, and if I also recall correctly, the pump was not longer working as well... So, either way would need a new tank, wich would take me to the same place...😊 Thank you for watching and for your comment! 👍👍👍
