Bjorn, thank you SO much for reminding us how tall you are. So many reviewers skip this and there is no frame of reference for their observations. It is almost as if they are embarrassed about their height! Like the viewer gives a sh it, they just want to understand how much space the car offers. You are a star and in so many ways you set the standard for a good review.
@c-fb8 ай бұрын
If you push the middle bottom on the seat adjustment knob you can adjust the lower back support etc. There is space on the left side of the steering wheel buttons, i wish they had put there the cruise control buttons instead than on the stalk

Only Bjorn could conceive the baby ballast test. Do we really need more proof that he is the number one as far as reviewing EVs? Question: does tilting the whole rear view mirror create some horrible wind noise at speed? One would guess that the shape of mirrors DOES impact aerodynamics…

Calling the EX30 a chinese car is just misunderstood, yes the car is assembled in china, but mostly everythng else is developed by Volvo in Sweden And by 2025 Volvo will expand it's production to Belgium to meet demand, does that then make it a Belgium car. ?!?!

I’d bet that EX30 logo in that weird spot on the side of the dash, covered when the door is closed, is a plug for an HVAC vent that blows into the door of another model that uses that same part.
@shaunak27816 ай бұрын
That window switch would annoy the hell out of you when you need to quickly open the windows for say taking a parking card, those cup holders, all the reviews are hyping it up as “clever” but nobody mentions that you basically choose between cup holder use or storage, which is pretty ridiculous if you think about it.

I very like the style and concept of the EX30. But I had to delete it from my shopping list; not much space (in the 2nd row) and then too expensive compared to the competition.
@ClarionCaww7 ай бұрын
Exact same. I just couldn't justify it when i was getting an ID.4 for around the same price but that has far more range and features. The only thing is its a bit bigger than i wanted but ID.3 77kwh you lose 1 back seat - so ID.4 it was and cant wait to recieve it following Bjorns latest reviews on it 😊

I would really like to see a direct comparison of the EX30 and its sibling Smart #1. From what I have seen so far, they cost around the same and the smart seems to have higher quality materials inside and more room in the back, while in the Volvo they tried to cut costs on many locations. For me, the only thing that may be better in the Volvo is the Android Automotive Headunit, and some might prefer the design of the Volvo, but the Smart seems to be much better value for the money.
@Kedde1x8 ай бұрын
Smart #1 only has more space in the back if you put the seats back - but then it comes at the cost of less trunk space than in EX30. If you put the seats in a position that gives you the same trunk space, the back seat space is even a bit smaller.

@jaker31518 ай бұрын
Isn't the interior space of the EX30 actually very poor when you compare it to an almost same length car like the MG4? In your MG4 review (blue car in Thailand) you was able to put the same stroller lying flat in the boot. Also the MG4 had much better rear passenger space/legroom with a more normal length rear bench/seat. 6:11 I wonder if Volvo shortened the rear bench on the EX30 to give it the illusion of more rear space and a bigger footwell? If so that's kind of sneaky. Also if the EX30 had normal length rear seat bases you might not of been able to fit banana boxes in the footwell.

@bjornnyland Hi, you previously did a nice acceleration test on a different SoC (90-10 %). The Volvo EX30 stood out from the crowd as worse. That is why EX30 should be tested in more detail, i.e. also the effect of cold. In your test, the battery was warm from many accelerations and battery discharge. We in Finland would like to know how the EX30 accelerates by SoC 20-40% 5 minutes after starting with a cold battery. Like the first freeway ramp.

So it has no space for 2nd row passengers (and if they're small enough to fit, it's not comfortable), it's lacking any driver's display and when you use the main screen to see your speed, the computer will ping you that you're distracted, the steering wheel is of an abominable shape and features buttons that look and act like bad children's toys (we've seen you try and set the cruise control speed) - I can't fathom how anyone chooses this instead of smart's sister models, really, unless for the "but it's a Volvo" crowd. (Granted, I'm leaving out the wonderful speed of the user interface, but it's complicated in unnecessary ways, too, let's not talk about how many taps it requires to find trip information for example.)
@thenerdysk8er8 ай бұрын
You can disable driver alert and use the steering wheel hot key to map it to that. Apparently Volvo is already updating the steering wheel buttons in the new MY25 that is being produced as of may and I hope they replace them for the existing models. I understand the points you mention and the space concerns & software inconsistency are valid but i think most of the negatives on these reviews are exaggerated points. I will pick up my test vehicle next week, maybe it’ll already be updated w the latest software and see if I personally find them as much of a deal breaker than the other people on KZbin do.
