Great tutorial, I have just bought XC90 and on the last few MOT test certificates it mentions in the advisory section "play in the steering column top bearing" I'm thinking it is probably this bolt. Thank you 👍

Hi Bruce! You right, if you trigger the srs sensor airbag can deploy. That's why we disconnected the battery first)

Will the simple procedure just displayed solve a related problem? My 2006 V70 has a lever on the left side of the steering column whose purpose is to lock the telescope wheel adjustment and up/down position of the steering wheel. The lever no longer tightens the steering wheel to the selected height and/or telescope position. (The steering wheel has full range of motion, but can no longer be locked into the desired position.) If the 18 mm nut is tightened, will that solve this issue?

Hi, I have a 04' xc70 that has about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch play in the steer wheel. It's more noticeable on the road. Instead of being straight the play has me moving the wheel. I replaced the short shaft and rack and pinion. I got a recall to have the air bag replaced. I hope tightening the bolt will get rid of the play...

@@PistonShack found out that ...when i bought it there was a brand new transmission on, and now i checked the steering and noticed that the steering whell actually was 90 degrees wrong ha ha ...have got the car to a 4 wheel ....hmmm whats the word - i got the steering and wheels and all checked and adjusted, and mann its not just the steering that now is perfect , its also affected my comfort

@@PistonShack no i don t have any devices relates to that problem it just stop working. I Think it could be clutch pedal sensor

@@fernandomoreiraify Well, if your car has standard transmission it might affect cruse operation. Check cruise fuse and pedal brake switch for short or open. Cruise control will stop working if ECU determined reduced engine performance. Do you have any codes?
