Volvo P1800S 1969 with original sunroof for sale in Sweden

The Volvo P1800 cars were produced from 1961 to 1968 with Volvo's B18 engine. However, in 1969 Volvo decided it was time to increase the size of the engine to give it a little bit better torque. The Volvo P1800 S B20 engine was now fitted with a pair of Stromberg carburettors for better power and fuel economy. And, finally those early Girling MK2 brake boosters were replaced with a bigger better one that was fitted directly to the master brake cylinder. The 1969 P1800S still had the beautiful classic chromed instruments and the aluminium panels. Then, in 1970 came the P1800E with the fake wood and black Smiths instruments. There were only 1,700 cars produced of the 1969 Volvo P1800S.
Exterior: This blue colour was a special order from the first owner in Germany. Not only is the car in a special-order colour, it was also ordered new with a Golde sunroof, and this is extremely rare. I am not sure how many cars that got the Golde sunroof from factory, but I have only seen one other in my life. The previous owner did some smaller body work to the car and then had it repainted in the original colour in 2020. In 2022, the following work was carried out.
The underneath of the car was ice-blasted and then painted with body protection.
The engine was out and the block was repainted.
The front and rear end was off the car, cleaned and painted.
The wheels were sandblasted and fitted with new tyres.
The exterior chrome parts are in exceptional condition and all rubber details are new. The colour combination is just stunning with brown leather inside. The Volvo has nice ride height front and rear. Slightly tinted glass.
Interior: Most things inside this wonderful Volvo P1800 for sale are original from 1969. The leather, the carpets, and the headliner are all original and still in wonderful condition. Another thing that is a special order for this car is those headrests. The instruments are all working as they should. The trunk has just received a new carpet and new panels. The original spare wheel is in its place along with the original jack and the Volvo tools supplied with these cars.
Engine: Volvos 2l B20 engine produced 106 horsepower. That is not much more than the B18, but it delivers much better torque making it easier and more enjoyable to drive. Here is some of the mechanical work done during 2022.

The four-speed gearbox with overdrive works perfectly. The Volvo P1800S for sale here feels happy and is a bliss to drive.
History: Dr. Meadows was an American living in Germany at the time and he bought his Volvo P1800 close to Frankfurt on Christmas Eve 1968. His special requests for this car were.

Dr. Meadows brought the car with him back to Oregon and kept it until 1976. The next four owners for this car are ladies. Three of them in USA and one in Sweden before the car came to me. I do not know if it has anything to do with the fact that this Volvo P1800 has been lady-owned for most of its life, but it is by far the most well-documented car I have ever come by. There are personal letters between Dr. Meadows and Volvo at the time. Tons of invoices for parts and labour spent on this car over the years. The last Technical Inspection was in June 2021 here in Sweden. The odometer is showing 93,000km but the total travel is unknown. Still the original B20 engine from 1968.

I understood the Golde sunroof was installed by Golde in Frankfurt not by Volvo in Sweden. So technically it is a Volvo ordered extra but installed after production.

@@adrianrudak if you are talking about the car, UK assembled only until January 1963, bodies were pressed and assembled until 1969 in Scotland and shipped to Sweden for assembly, from August 1969 the body was pressed, assembled and final vehicle assembly all took place in Sweden. The Golde sunroof was installed upon order from a customer’s local dealer, with the vehicle shipped directly from the factory in Sweden to Germany for its installation.
